  1. Turns out the re-install didn't overwrite my entire FSX installation; just the DLC from the Steam store (such as any repaints I had for those DLC aircraft; although I backed them up in case that happened).
  2. So it appears that FSX: Steam Edition has officially been transitioned into Microsoft's full control (no longer considered a DTG product in Steam), but it's now asking me to re-install FSX: Steam, even though I already have FSX: Steam installed. Does this mean I'll lose all the 3rd party freeware aircraft, repaints, scenery, gauges, textures, etc... I have in my FSX?
  3. This problem has been solved; my prop pitch was set to high that brought down the RPM's. Mods can delete this post if they want. Whenever I set the piston_engine data values on an airplane that I want to "change" the engine specs, such as the RPM, displacement, and compression ratios, # of cylinders, etc. the engine in the flight sim actually decreases in power, and can barely go past 2000-2200RPMs. I tried this with the default 172 with a 200HP IO-360 and 215HP IO-390 but instead of an increase in power, it was significantly less. I tried the same thing once with the LHC Piper Pacer where I wanted to give the Tri-Pacer model a 180HP O-360 like it's Super Pacer 180 taildragger sibling, but the RPM's in the Tri-Pacer with the 180HP barely topped 2200RPM, and even though I reverted the original piston_engine values back to default (150HP O-320), the RPMS still remained under 2200 despite having 2700-2750 set in the data fields. The only success I had at this was with the AL3C Legend Cub (modernized default Cub) were I gave it a 100HP O-200 instead of the 65HP A65. Any suggestions of why this is happening?
  4. So what about those FS2004 default aircraft that were converted for FSX and the entire aircraft was shared, such as the Cessna 182S & Mooney Bravo/Acclaim S by Mark Rooks? He even modified & re-uploaded the FSX acceleration P-51 (Shadow Spear). Did he have permission from Microsoft to update & share those aircraft? What if I include the text from my panel.cfg & aircraft.cfg in a "Read Me" document, and just have users copy-paste the aircraft.cfg & panel.cfg text in the Read Me and paste it in the corresponding documents? Or what if I just share the textures, sound (it uses the sound set from the FS2004 Curtiss JN4 Jenny), panel & aircraft.cfg only and not include the model or .air file?
  5. Are you allowed to modify any of the default FSX aircraft & upload/share them as freeware, with of course credit to Microsoft? I recently took the default Piper J-3 Cub and turned it into an American Legend AL3C-100 Legend Cub, which is a revamped & modernized replica of the original J-3 Cub. Mods to it in the aircraft.cfg & panel.cfg files include: 100hp Continental O-200D instead of the default 65hp Continental A65 increased empty & gross weights that match that of the real AL3C x2 12 gallon fuel tanks in the wings instead of the single 12 gallon nose fuel tank More aggressive prop pitch which was given new textures as well that resemble a Sensenich wood-composite propeller Electrical system added Nav, strobe, & x2 bright wing landing lights (although the landing lights don't project any light on the ground since that particular effect is related to the model Updated/modernized cockpit instruments (still the same bare-bones basic VFR set up as the default Cub; just looks more modern) Custom textures inside & out (including my own personalized Black/White paint job based on the Loopy Larry livery that I nicknamed "Black Betty". I also gave the panel some carbon fiber textures. I did all this because I wanted a light & simple bushplane that was a little more "professional" looking compared to the RANS S-7C Courier I also fly (some of you may have seen my other forum post talking about that S-7 and the modeling glitch it had), and one that was bug-free & FSX-native. Plus I've picked up a knack for tweaking & modifying airplanes in FSX to my liking (at least what I am able to modify). :) The default Cub is already a great flyer & bushplane, but the addition of a more powerful engine & longer legs (range-wise) makes it even better. It's great for river runs & gravel bar hopping, as well as landing in really tight spots generally. Once I finish making more paint schemes & texture variations, I'd love to upload/share it with the flight sim community, although I want to make sure this is totally ok & won't cause any legal trouble or upsets. Here's some screenshots showing what it looks like: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/541342645683879976/629504531721617448/4.jpg https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/541342645683879976/629504538100891657/6.jpg https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/541342645683879976/629504536767234048/5.jpg https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/541342645683879976/629504544627490817/8.jpg https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/541342645683879976/629504544182632474/9.jpg https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/541342645683879976/629504545843707904/11.jpg https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/541342645683879976/629504545843707915/12.jpg
  6. I also have Windows 7 instead of 10. I have absolutely no clue how to create or edit alpha channels on textures, especially with paint.NET. I looked into alpha channels when I was doing a repaint awhile ago for the LHC Piper Pacer, and I wanted to add shiny chrome to the prop/spinner, but couldn't figure out out. Instead I just painted it gray and added a little bit of noise to the prop paint.
  7. I actually have that Bellanca Scout in my FSX aircraft library already, and I think I downloaded an updated version that was already fixed for FSX. I also have the Champ & Decathlon made by the same developers.
  8. I simply swapped out all the missing gauges for the default C172's gauges. I may play around with the gauges more and see what different configurations I can make. Just an experiment but I'm curious if I could fit a Garmin G1000 in the VC panel, since it's a flat 2D panel and non of it is 3D. As for sound, I used the rotax 582 sound from the default Air Creation Trike ultralight and removed the wind sounds, so it sounds like your in an enclosed cockpit. Worked like a charm! Yea the RPM being that high has to do with it being powered by the Rotax 912. I'm still experimenting with this plane, and ironically despite it being an old FS9 plane that has some modeling issues in FSX, it's actually become a favorite of mine for being able to land on river gravel bars so easily, and the climb-rate is very good getting out of tight spots, something my LHC Piper Pacer 180 bushplane kind of struggles with. It's a very fun plane to toy around, and I'm gonna keep tinkering with it and customize it to my liking - like a true experimental kitplane :p (at least the parts I can modify/tinker with) So did the different panel fix the glitched prop texture/model?
  9. Alright thanks for trying. I'm not very skilled in FSX aircraft modeling (at least yet; if my Sonex project goes well) so I can't fix it either; only the missing gauges in the panel & VC. The aircraft is still very fun to fly though; and it's not as bad from the VC other than the see-through hole/texture in the cockpit floor (and I fly 95% from the cockpit).
  10. I also found the same plane, and 2 other variants of it (Float & Tundra/Bush Tires) in the Flightsim.com library: https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/fslib.php?searchid=73278759
  11. Yes it is a freeware plane. I think I originally got it from AVSIM, but you can also find it on Simviation. Here's the link to the plane: https://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=+Rans+S7c+Courier&x=0&y=0
  12. Oh ok, bummer then. I kind of figured it was a modeling issue and not a texture one. It's still very fun to fly though.
