  1. Managed to uninstall from the Xbox store (obviously microsoft store and xbox store are linked) as both said the app was owned, but only the xbox store had the facility for un-installing which I did, then re-installed and the Xbox has a download indicator which went fro 0% to 100%, so it went to 100% then changed to play and I was also able to specify an icon on the desktop and the icon appeared. However clicking on the icon loads the startup screens but I am still getting the warning box with the option to start in safe mode. Whatever mode I choose it moves onto the startup screen then freezes and crashes to desktop. This is getting extremely frustrating :-((
  2. Well, following advice (thanks for responding :-)) I bought standard edition. It started to download ( I think about a quarter downloaded) then the message in the Microsoft store changed to play, clicking on the play button launches the game's intro screens but then a warning box appears asking if I want to play in safe or normal mode, selecting either causes the game to crash and return to the store page. It has created two new folders in C:\XboxGames: Microsoft Flight Simulator and Microsoft Flight Simulator Digital Ownership. How can I check everything has downloaded or restart the download. I suspect the download crapped out before completing.
  3. The time had come. Or so I thought. My win7 computer failed ; the motherboard was dead. It was after all just over ten years old. I managed to source an identical used motherboard so re built the computer, but this motherboard failed within two months, so I bit the bullet and bought a brand new win 10 machine of a spec to run MSFS2020 comfortably in the near future. I re-built FS9 and got it running well under Win10 (apart from some minor issues when running in full screen mode) all 1800 add-on sceneries (mostly free, a dozen or so pay) and 600 or so aircraft. So once again I was a happy bunny. My thoughts turned to MSFS2020, after all the idea of spending big on the new rig were partly driven by the thought of a computer able to run it well. I have never had such a confusing and awkward process for the purchase of a piece of software. First question DVDs or download? I have bought many Flight Sim upgrades from Aerosoft; they were offering the Deluxe version for Euros 109.24 (shipped on DVDs) with the following caveat: What is an Xbox account and why would I want one? I have no interest in an Xbox. Obviously more research required. The Xbox account was going to cost from £27.56 to £49.99 for 12 months or £ 7.47 to £ 9.99 for 3 months. I have been playing FS9 for 19 years so if MSFS2020 is as much fun and I use it for 19 years it will cost me £ 523.64 in Xbox fees plus the £100 or so for the software. Total cost of use (excluding hardware) around £ 650. Another option is download direct from the Microsoft store. I searched for MSFS2020 but no matches, you have to type Microsoft F... before it finds it. Cost £109.99 download. Does it need the Xbox account? Not sure. What the site does say under download is: “Install on your XBOX one console and a Windows Pc plus have access when you're connected to your Microsoft account”. What does “connected to your Microsoft account” mean? The site said you could buy the game for £87.99 if you joined Game Pass. No idea what Game Pass is, more research required. Turns out Game Pass is a subscription service at £7.99 per month. So if no XBOX account is required this route will cost (over 19 years) £ 87.99 + £ 1821 = £ 1909 If the xbox account is still required cost is £ 87.99 + £ 523.64 + £ 1821 =£ 2432.63 FS9 has cost me around £ 40 I was decidedly pissed off with the purchase process for MSFS2020, plus the reviews on the Microsoft site were not good, the majority 1*. At this point I was too fed up to investigate the steam option :-(( Will stick with FS9 for the moment, however the scenery in 2020 looks stunning....Is the rest of it (including the buying and installation process) that bad?
  4. I cannot agree more with beroun. I was in the habit of visiting the site around 17:00 GMT most evenings to see what new files had been uploaded. Now i can get to "What's new", but it only has a few files. Are they that days' files only? What about previous uploads from the last few days? And should you not give the actual file name? I.E. xxxx.zip? What is the actual URL to get to the home page of the new site? At the moment it seems to default to the forum. Is it the home page now? I often used to search through all FS2004 files if not sure how the file was classified within FS2004, is that no longer possible? How do I search for a file if I know it's file name? i.e. (xyz.zip)
  5. Is it my browser or have there been no new uploads for two days? Or is there a problem that will hopefully be resolved in the next few days?
  6. Is this different to Rick Piper's FSDS 3 model of 2007 also for FS9 2004? It also has a very comprehensive panel by Fraser McKay (2008). This new upload references FS2002. I am somewhat confused about this upload. Are the two models different and is the new upload for FS2002 or FS9 2004?
  7. Downwind66. Have you downloaded the aircraft in question and tried changing the ui_manufacturer=TDS737MAXV3 in FS2004? The whole point is: if you do change it from the above the aircraft WILL NOT show up in the FS2004 aircraft listing at all. My example shots where just showing how I like my aircraft files to show up. I change the file name so there is consistency in the Windows folder; to get the same consistency in the FS2004 aircraft listing the " ui_manufacturer= " field has to be changed in the aircraft.cfg file The problem is not WHAT to change, it is that TDS in V3 have introduced protection that stops the aircraft from being listed in the FS2004 aircraft listing if the "ui_manufacturer= " field is altered in any way.
  8. Hello Downwind66, the whole problem is if the " ui_manufacturer=TDS737MAXV3 " is changed in any way the aircraft does not appear in the FS9 aircraft listing. Previous TDS aircraft did not have this "protection". Why is it felt necessary now? I suppose it is TDS's privilege to put any features they like in their creations, it is freeware, as users we have to like it or lump it. However I would have felt developers (freeware or payware) would like to see their aircraft downloaded and used by the greatest number possible and, in my opinion, this degree of protection will severely limit the number of people that will use this aircraft (good as it is).
  9. I downloaded the new TDS 737 max9 v3, it is a nice model but I am unable to change the aircraft.cfg file so it fits in with my naming convention; if the " ui-manufacturer=* " is changed in any way the aircraft does not appear in the FS2004 aircraft listing. My convention is as follows. In the file listing: And this appears as follows in the FS2004 internal aircraft listing: Thanks TDS for the excellent freeware, but why do you now find it necessary to introduce this extra "feature", I presume to stop your cerations from unauthorized copying?
  10. Hello jucano2, inserting the lines above does not help, if the "ui_manufacturer= *" is changed the aircraft simply does not display in the aircraft listings. Not on my fs2004 system anyway.
  11. Unable to use this as the manufacturer in the aircraft.cfg can't be changed. All my aircraft are categorized by the manufacturer of the real world aircraft. (With over 2000 aircraft it becomes almost impossible to find the correct aircraft otherwise). When I change the "manufacturer=Boeing" in the aircraft.cfg file the aircraft will not display. Shame :-((
  12. Not sure if by accident or design if the ui_manufacturer= or ui_type= are changed in any way from the original in the aircraft.cfg the aircraft will not appear in the internal aircraft listings. I use a convention that the ui_manufacturer=Boeing (always the actual manufacturer of the real aircraft) this makes finding the aircraft much easier rather than trying to remember if it is Carenado, TDS or any other. Not being able to change these parameters may mean I ditch this otherwise excellent model. If it is by design to combat thieves who steal good free designs I am saddened. It is of course TDSs' prerogative to protect their copyright by any means they see fit. Thank you TDS for your great models! (but please allow us to alter the parameters I mentioned)
  13. Must have been awesome seeing a cruise liner heading to Florida at 5000' ;)
  14. While I admit slightly off topic, the reason for the quiz was to highlight what Nels Anderson pointed out re the name; simply calling it Microsoft Flight Simulator will not suffice. As Nels said a convention will develop over time. Incidentally the answer re which version of Microsoft Flight Simulator the scenery (Instrument Pilot's Scenery East U.S.) was for is also printed on the ring binder: "For use with Microsoft Flight Simulator (Version 3 or newer) and SubLOGIC Flight Assignment: A.T.P." Back on topic regarding what rig will run the new MFS (Nels Anderson nomenclature) we will have to wait and suck it and see, but if not running in cached mode internet download speed will obviously be critical. At the moment there are just too many variables to make a prediction. Variables such as what is a minimum acceptable frame rate: 12.5 FPS ? 30 FPS ? Are you running cached or in cloud download mode? What features are turned on and at what complexity? I guess we will just have to wait and see.
  15. I just pulled a ring binder from my book shelf, it's entitled: Instrument Pilot's Scenery East U.S. IBM Compatibles for use with Microsoft Flight Simulator Who can guess what version of Microsoft Flight Simulator it's for? Two clues 1 it's by subLOGIC 2 The Jeppesen approach charts came in a ring binder, the software on a 3-1/2" disk
  16. Does any body know more about the slated sim? see: https://gearnuke.com/microsoft-flight-simulator-announced-for-2020-release-on-pc-and-xbox-one/ "Microsoft Flight Simulator should evoke some nostalgic feelings for long-time PC gamers and Microsoft is bringing it back with some cutting-edge visuals in a brand new game. Microsoft dropped the announcement about a new Flight Simulator during their E3 2019 showcase. Watch the announcement trailer below to get a glimpse of this new game." Any of you gals or guys in the know?
  17. I believe this is identical to VOZ 1.8 released in 2008. After un-installing and re-installing this I can find no differences. However still one of the very best freeware scenery, both in detail and the amazing area covered, ever released foe FS2004. If you have not yet got it I recommend you download and install it.
  18. Nice scenery but there is an object collison that happens towards the end of RWY 010
  19. Which model of TDS 757-200 is this texture for? The picture is of a PW model, but the only dedicated freighter model is for the RR model. The enclosed AIRCRAFT.CFG shows a PW SIM but no model.
  20. This texture is for the GE engined 787-10 not Rolls Royce
  21. This also works well on the FS9 camsim Embraer phenom 300
