  1. Every update comes with new problems (ok, this program is in development), but this one has serious elevation problems around the world, and after 6 days no explanation from developers, when the community has published solutions yet.

  2. As said the best solution is FSX.SE.

Just add that if you have in your old PC plenty of FSX addons, and want to avoid reinstall you can do as follows:

Install FSX-SE (or FSX boxed) in the new PC

Unistall FSX of the old PC, then in the main folder will remain all addons.

Then you can copy all those files to your FSX in the new PC

  3. 5.1 is NOT 4.5.

You cannot JUST `download the client`, although this is an option if you have v5.x

From 4.5 you have to make a new purchase. Then install the Clent, Content and Scenery. This gives you all the benefits of the upgrade.

Just noticed how people reads the forums, renzolino hasn't mentioned P3D v5.

This gentleman only wants to update v4.

You add v5 to the discussion, is deviating the question, also jorgen..etc. has followed your distraction.

  4. The title says it all. The only posts that have replies here are the ones that are either bashing MS or Asobo or comments to published articles. If you are a newbie ands ask any questions about the Sim, the post gets hundreds if not thousands of views, but nobody take the time to reply. I guess it goes back to an article that was published here a while back about the state of the community. We are not flying the friendly skies anymore.

If you know of a link to a good FS forum for newbies, just put it on the reply. Thank you!

Friendly forum for MSFS?, but you'll find more answers here:

  5. That's not true, I've set my FPS limit in MSFS to 20 and it works perfectly. You MUST have Vsync on for the FPS slider to be active, but having set your FPS, you can then switch Vsync off again and your chosen FPS limit is still active.

¿Not true?. Heavy response. The frame rate limiter only works if Vsync is ON, please read the Description at the right that says : Select which frame rate limit to apply when Vsync is turned on.

If turned off is OFF, the last FPS selected remains but greyed.

In my system: Vsync OFF (20 FPS greyed) - Nvidia limit 30 = 30 FPS

  6. The FPS limit is not the same if done with Nvidia Control panel or done in MSFS.

In MSFS, Vsync must be activated to limit FPS at 60 or 30 (no other option), but is widely accepted that is better Vsync OFF. In the Nvidia panel you have a range to select different FPS.

As general recommendation, setting a FPS limit in Nvidia panel to 30, reduces the GPU load with respect to higher values or unlimited.

Of course every system has different reactions.

    In my system:

    Vsync OFF - Nvidia unlimited= 45 FPS

    Vsync OFF - Nvidia limit 30 = 30 FPS

    Vsync ON & FPS 30 - Nvidia unlimited= 20 FPS

    Vsync ON & FPS 60 - Nvidia unlimited= 39 FPS

  7. Why do some of us manage to fly without problems??

Dissatisfied customers typically tell nine to 15 other people about their experience; some tell 20 or more (White House Office of Consumer Affairs).

A customer who has a negative experience is highly likely to share that experience by leaving a bad review.

A customer who has a positive experience, on the other hand, is unlikely to leave a good review. In our experience, only one in 10 happy customers leaves a good review.

We have not wanted to belong to the silent majority ...

  8. By messed installation, do you mean the user did something to mess up the installation? How do they do that?

I've never heard of internet files coming in corrupted. If that happed, it would be a big problem for everyone. I download tons of stuff, and it doesn't get corrupted. I guess it could happen sometimes, but I don't think it's a major problem with mfs, because so many people are having the same problems. I know sometimes there are dropped packets in streams, but I think program installations can handle that.

    Search in MSFS forum.

  9. A bad internet connection can affect packets being downloaded, that's not the software developers fault, that's between you and your internet provider......

Well said!, thanks!. Those people don't pay attention reading. I have written "corrupted downloaded files" but they don't realize that they can be the problem because in the simulator also they don't pay attention.

  10. I don't have any of the user errors mentioned above, and I'm still having lots of problems. Like 7 ctd after last update. I have my doubts this program will ever run good. Also, some of the things mentioned above shouldn't matter at all, like bad internet, installing to a different directory, having undocumented windows, as the liberals call it, and having addons. Can't we have addons? What's the store for?

I have writen a summary of problems. If you pay attention you will see for instance:

Bad internet means corupted download files and more.

Install out of default shouldn't be a problem but I have written MESSED.

You have not understood the two last paragraphs.

7 CTD's and any of this problems? Maybe I have forgotten another user originated problem.

    Best regards,

  11. After seeing all post in the official forums I have listed issues caused by users:

    Bad internet connection

Messed installations outside the default folder.

Non official or "bad" Windows 10

    Hardware.

No manual, OK but users are not reading the menus that give enough information to configure the sim.

People who fill the Community folder with liveries, scenery, FSX modded aircraft, many of them very heavy and unnecessary.

In addition to this, users who think that for $ 60 they are entitled to have by default 3 PMDG planes and a lot of A2A planes.

  12. Actually most of the "issues" stem from 3 user controlled causes. First, some folks try to run the sim with a 2 MB/s internet connection, which results in corrupted downloads. Second, you have folks that deciide to swap out a MB or upgrade part of the system, then change the Windows installed, usually using some Windows 10 they got from JiffyMart. Third are the folks that add a bunch of liveries, scenery they fouind on torrentsRus, and an aircraft their brother-in-law built. For those that confuse my actual comments with sarcasm, this is sarcasm, but a lot of truth in fact. You also have a huge number of people that refuse to learn the new AP features and complex commands needed to run the program, then claim it is "broken". Many of the "issues" could be eliminated by keeping the installation simple for now, not adding every finagle you find in some bulletin board. Commercial addons from payware partners are likely OK, but beware the scenery from Bubba's Scenery Shop!

I totally agree, this is the first sim I have seen that allows me to visit places and recognize features if I have been there, or visit places I will never be able to see!

    Totally agree!
