Apologies in advance if I am not using the correct terminology - I am new to MSFS 2020

I have got to grips with the basics - I am trying a VOR Navigation flight in the Cessna 152, following a tutorial I watched.

I ma sat on the runway at Prestwick Airport I have entered frequency for a couple of local VOR stations - Turnberry 117.5 or Machrihanish 116.0. When I click the make frequency active button on the NAV 1 console nothing happens on the CDI/OBS instrument

Am I missing something ? I've done some reading but I cant find anything - I've looked at all the instruments on the dashboard to see if I need to activate something.

I am using MSFS 2020 via Steam version 1.21.18.0

Windows 11

AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core Processor

Nvidia Geforce 3060 Ti

16gb Ram

1 TB SSD XPG SX8200 M.2 NVME

2 TB SATA3 Hard Drive

I installed the Game via Steam to my SSD XPG SX8200 M.2 NVME

I put the packages on my other SATA3 Hard Drive

Any help would be appreciated.
