So, ram is very important in getting better visuals, as is the gpu.

I second this. I'm running an RX 580 and adding RAM made a big difference. (Had 16G added 32G.)

I was able to get 32G of 3200 MHz RAM for $105 from Micro Center.

Definitely keeping X-Plane.

MSFS has the eye candy, but XP flight models are the best.

Interesting to compare the G1000 in both. MSFS doesn't have VNav and XP doesn't have synthetic vision or ability to display v speed refs on the speed tape. (Those are items I'd like each to fix.)

Today was the first since launch that MSFS hasn't crashed. (Even got a BSOD once.)

I've taken to starting MSFS, letting it update, then quitting and rebooting the PC, then launching MSFS for real.
