  1. Thanks for all the replies.

Your right, I don't need 60fps. Almost all my flying is in small bush planes, in and out of smaller airports or air strips.

The 10 -12 extra fps I got made a big difference, it was enough to get rid of the small amount of stuttering I had, mostly coming in to land over trees.

The rendering scale brought down to 75 changed the setting to 1920 x 1108 and the amd setting  did improve the sharpness.

I think I'll try that and see what happens when I set the global rendering quality to high, I will probably have to turn a few setting down, but if I end up with even 5-6 more fps than I had before, I'll try to just leave it alone and enjoy it.

If i can pick up a 20% better GPU and another 8 gb of ram for a reasonable price, I'll do that. I'm 72 and this is my only hobby, nothing wrong with spending some money on yourself once in awhile. Thanks Guys.

  2. I have a newer LG 32 inch gaming monitor that has a native resolution of 2560x1440, it has a wonderful picture quality.

For some reason, I thought the resolution in the MSFS settings should be set to the same 2560x1440. I have a mid grade computer and had a fairly good looking picture but the sliders had to be set in the low - medium range.

Out of curiosity, I set the msfs resolution to 1920 x 1080 and picked up another 10-12 FPS. I'm going to play with turning things up.

Does it matter in any way if the screen resolution and the msfs resolution are set differenty? I have a feeling it shouldn't matter, but thought I would ask.

  3. Imagine this happening with your new 6 month old car.

You start it in the morning to go to work and there is a notice on the screen that your car's computer has been updated.

You start driving and your stereo comes on full blast and you cannot turn it down. It starts raining and your wipers no longer work.

You pull over and find out your door will not unlock and the power windows no longer work.

You get towed to the dealer and are informed that they have already had over a hundred calls from people saying they are having the same problems.

Every time there is a new update, it changes my full screen setting to windows view.  This new update turned off the Online Functionality setting.

I don't recall anything like this happening with FSX.

Even with all the setbacks, I'm glad I upated to MSFS 2020.

  4. Thanks for both replies.

Yes, the online functionality box was off. the marketplace is back again.

I have no idea how it got turned off, but it doesn't surprise me anymore that some settings seem to change themselves, every time I download a new update, it changes from full screen to

      windows view.

The fact that the online functionality was turned off also means that the Bing Data World Graphics and Photogrammetry were also turned off, no wonder the scenery hasn't looked that good

lately.  Do both Bing Data World Graphics and Photogrammetry both have to be on at the same time?  Thanks so much, it's nice to have the scenery back!

  5. Depending on the plane, clicking ALT + L will add some extra lighting on the panel.

The ALT + L is what is called "Flashlight" in the MSFS2020 keyboard assignments.

I wish every plane had a good adjustable panel light dial. Most of my flying is in bush planes in cloudy weather. without good panel lighting, it is sometimes impossible to see the instruments.

  6. Is out and I must say it Flys nice, I have yet to decipher the polish writing in the Cockpit but this may be my next go to Bush plane (ok a bit heavy on the fuel but its a sim so the price is right:) )

Together with the Beaver, Husky and the Milviz PC-6, I feel my Hangar is well stocked now

I haven't bought it yet, but the previews say the Polish panel can be changed to English, there must be some info that comes with it that shows how to change it.

  7. I have deleted a number of liveries that came with MSFS in the content manager.

I bought a plane a few days ago through the MSFS marketplace which installed the plane automatically.

I wanted to delete a few liveries that came with the plane, but in the content manager it only shows that the plane is installed.

Is there a way to open that planes file to delete those liveries I don't want?

    Thanks

  8. I have the Thrustmaster T16000M and am using the throttle slider on it as the prop pitch control. In order to do that you need to set your slider/lever to operate the Propeller Axis, not the Increase/Decrease Pitch selections..

Thanks for the reply. I tried what you suggested, but it only got more confusing. If I was trying to change something on the flightstick that came with the captains pack, it would have been easier as the flightstick comes up on the MSFS control option with every button having a number, you can just assign something to that number.

The spoiler lever I'm trying to change to the propeller pitch lever does not show up on the MSFS control page. The throttle quadrant shows up, but not the two addons that are extra, they include the spoiler lever, landing gear lever, parking brake and flap lever.

This whole setup is for the Airbus cockpit but says it can be set up for small planes,

I did get a reply from Thrustmaster and they're response was "Yes it can be done, ask at the flightsim forums for how-to do it"

It might take a reply from someone who has actually done what I would like to do with a step by step answer to how to do it. I just might end up taking the throttle assembly out and replacing it with the Logitech throttle that comes with the throttle, prop control and mixture levers, it is plug and play.

  9. I have the Thrustmaster TCA Captains pack with the addons.

I have been trying to get the spoilers lever to work as the prop lever in small single engine planes.

The keyboard for prop increase is CTRL + F3, prop decrease is CTRL + F2

When I move the spoiler lever in the ThrustMaster control panel, it moves what is called R-axis-Z.

In the msfs 2020 / options / controls, I just get a blank trying to see how to combine those two things to get the propeller pitch to work from the ThustMaster spoiler lever.

I emailed thrustmasters , hoping they could help, but have not got a reply.

    Any suggestions ? Thanks

  10. I have a bad hearing problem and use headphones while using MSFS2020.

I had no problem hearing FSX and Assetto Corsa is loud enough, but even with the headphones turned all the way up and the volume in MSFS all the way up, it is just not that loud.

Is there anything within MSFS that would bring the volume higher than what is the highest setting in MSFS?

    Thanks

  11. Asked this on my search engine, most answers are for FSX. One suggestion was to start your flight from a gate instead of a runway.

Not all places have a choice other than a runway.

I have logitech's switch panel but when the engines are already running, using my switch panel sometimes causes problems.

If I turn everything off from the planes panel and then restart everything from my panel it works fine. It would be simpler to just have the engines off when I set up a flight.

I only fly small single engine planes, mostly bush planes, so they are simple to start.

Is there a choice somewhere in MSFS 2020 where you can click on " Start every flight with engines cold"?

  12. I understand you well, I also bit the bait in August 2020, when I first bought MSFS.

It's still a bit soon for you to realize that there are much better 3rd party aircraft out there (both free and payware), but this will happen sooner or later.

Then you will probably regret having paid the extra money, basically for a Cessna 172 which is not up to the average standards. You can't even open its doors as you did in FSX!!

Anyhow, welcome aboard and happy flying!! :pilot:

I'm sure your right about the free and payware planes being better than the ones that come with the simulator. I was using FSX for I don't know how many years, when I quit a few years ago, the only thing I flew was pay ware planes such as A2A.

Was the extra money for the Deluxe edition a waste of money? Not really. Where else can you get thousands of hours of entertainment for under $100.00? One movie nowadays is $15.00? $100.00 to go to a concert?

  13. One piece of advice I would like to pass on. If there is even the remostest possibility of you ever wanting to fly some of the planes that are only offered in the Deluxe or Premium versions, then I suggest you buy them.

I made the mistake of "saving money" and bought the Standard, thinking that I could upgrade later on for a small increase in $$$. Nope!! Turns out that if you want those other planes (like the C172 Steam panel), you have to pay furl price for the upgrades. Sigh :)

I did buy the Deluxe edition, just for the reason you mentioned, for the C172 with the steam guages.

I am a bit disappointed with some of the bush planes coming with the glass panels.

I'm almost 72, grew up with cars that had real gauges in them, I just don't understand why every year, these new cars put a bigger "TV" in front of the driver. People should be watching where they're going, not looking at a screen in the middle of the dash trying to find out how to turn their wipers on.

  14. Welcome back to the MS Flying World! You have the same concerns that I had at the beginning. The initial installation is going to give you a minimal choice of what you can or can't install, but the good thing is that after the installation you can remove lots and lots of items that you are not interested on, and it does get taken off the HDD for good so you can free large chunks of the HDD. I did take off most of the training and what I considered useless stuff and I'm still removing and adding new things just like we did in FSX.

    Thank you Valero

What I was hoping to hear.

  15. I'm about ready to install MSFS 2020 after a few years being away from FSX. One thing I read about the installation is that you are given the option of how much you want installed. My interest now is the same it was in FSX, bush flying around Alaska down to Washington.

I have no interest in Jets or other parts of the world. Would it make it easier to just install everything and then delete what I don't want, or do a basic installation and then add what I want?

Also, when you delete planes and scenery from the content manager, are they taken off the hard drive or do they stay there and that plane or scenery says "Not Installed". I would rather have the space on the hard drive and use it for addon bush planes.

    Thanks for any advice.

  16. Thanks for the answers.

Miahflyer......It looks like your suggestion is what I'll have to do, just download the basic version and then delete what I know I'll never use. My only interest is bush flying in Alaska and British Columbia.

All the jets and fancy airports throughout the world can be deleted which should save a lot of space. It would be nice if you were given the option of what types of planes you wanted and what parts of the world you wanted to be installed.
