I ran into this problem before. It drove me batty for a while but I was able to fix the issue. In win 10 under C:/Users/(your computer name)/AppData/local/VirtualStore I found my computer storing files pertaining to certain aircraft panels that kept the original file intact. I deleted these files from the virtual storage file and there it was! All my changes apperaed and I didn't have anymore problems. I keep a close eye on this file now and haven't had any other issues with FSX. Don't know if this is your issue, but suspect it may be.

"Search" has become a vital 21st century life skill, that it seems to me many people are not very good at. It's something that probably ought to be taught in schools these days, though that's no help to those us well beyond our school years.
Would a tutorial on search be something people here be interested in--and actually read?
I would be interested Nels!

I think it is just a mindset. I don't think people have a problem with putting new ideas into their head, it's getting the old ones out that seems to be the problem. Good Luck all!

I'll have to be honest. I like this new format! I'm old and if I can learn to adapt and understand how to use this, surely the yonger generation can handle it!

Well Gentlemen,
I added some weight to the aircraft, moved to CG forward by moving the fuel forward just a little. Then I had to adjust the static height and cg height just a hair. Reduced thrust by a small amount and increased the brake scale to 0.85. I also decreased N2 just a small amount and Eureka! the nose is now stationary on startup.
Listen, I appreciate everyone's help. You made a huge difference to me!
Thanks!
Frank

same results, only worse!

Yes Parking brakes set. Interesting enough, when you start using 3&4 first, the nose yaws to the left and stabilizes when 1&2 start.
Is this crazy or what?
-
Yes to both questions

Afternoon fellow simmers!
I have a strange set of circumstances that perhaps one of you has come across before and know the answer that may help me fix this issue. The aircraft is a 747-800 file: SSP748V4_GENX_N6067E that I downloaded here. The problem is when starting the engines, 1&2 engines start and the nose of the aircraft yaws to the right. When 3&4 engines start, that aircraft stops yawing to the right and stabilizes. I've look at the .air file and cfg files. There doesn't seem to be any anomalies in either file.
airfile: 747-400-RR-RB-211-524HT.air and typical posky cfg file.
If anyone can help me solve this, I would appreciate it!
Frank Savage

That's Outstanding Robin! Keep your attitude and spirit high and you will overcome this. Kind of looks like you already have. Stay positive!

Heal quickly and I wish all the best to you as you continue to recover! This is distressing to hear!

I'm sorry if your opinion differs from my opinion as to what needs moderating and what does not. I do emphasize "opinion", as neither of us is right in an absolute sense and reasonable people can disagree.
You should also understand that you don't actually see everything that goes on. As often as not, the message(s) that finally go too far over the line and cause a thread to be ended are removed from public view. So you are in fact judging without having all the facts.
Moderating is a thankless job. Any time a moderator has to step in, someone is going to be unhappy about it. But likewise in many case NOT stepping in make someone unhappy. You basically cannot win no matter what you do, but you still try your best. I hope you will try and be understanding that we want to make the forums the best they can be, but we're only human and not perfect.
Nels - It seems that you are in a catch 22 situation no matter what. Stick to your guns! You are doing a fine job in my opinion!
-
It will function normally based upon your last scenery data file. If you add new scenery, you'll have to reinstall the program to update your airports, etc.

I love to fly many of the military fixed wing that I have as well as the rotor wing aircraft. They are:
A400M, B1B Lancer, B-52H Stratofortress, C5M Super Galaxy, C-17 Globemaster III, C-130 Hercules, C-141 Starlifter, KC-135M Stratotanker, A4M Skyhawk, F4 Phantom, F16 Viper, FA-18E Superhornet, AV-10 Bronco, B-17E Flying Fortress, B25J Mitchell, B-29 Superfortress, A-10 Thunderbolt II, Air Force One.
AH-1W Super Cobra, AH-1Z Viper, UH-1Y Venom, RH-66 Comanche, CH-46 Sea Knight, CH-53 Sea Stallion.
I have lot's of fun with these aircraft!

You can have Traffic files in any active Scenery folder … one of my problem files was lurking in the Libraries\Scenery folder, presumably put there by an "installer"!
With all the Traffic files in one dedicated folder, as described above, many problems can be easily resolved ;)
Thank You!
-
The first thing is to find any duplicated traffic BGL files. Do a search for Traffic in your Addon Scenery folder. Look for any duplicate names of BGL files starting with the word Traffic. Are they really duplicates? If so, delete one.
Tom - Can you install traffic files into the add-on scenery file under scenery or should you leave it in the Scenery/World/Scenery file? I ask this because it would eliminate duplicate traffic files.
-
Many thanks to you...your link is ok, but why ? where you found it ? The "freewarescenery.com" is dead..Now is OK for me.
Regards
Andrea
I had it in my favorites. Don't know where it came from? I just know that it works.

Very Strange. Haven't ever add on airfield do this.
-
I think in ADE you may create an exclusion box that may work. I hope Tom Gibson will chime in here. He's very knowledgeable on this subject
-
I have backdated scenery objects, no problem. But you cannot create animated aircraft for FS2004.
But the OP was asking if one could open and view FS2004 models, and there the answer is yes.
You are correct Tom! I need to pay attention!
-
I don't think that you can convert FSX MDL files to FS2004 with this program however. I tried it and I couldn't ever get it to work. Good Luck!
-
Im running FSX and those carriers are moving, so not sure ADE 1.65 will help
Probably not in FSX. I think there is an updated version, but I'm not sure. Good Luck!
FS2020 of no use to me

I did try MSFS and I went back to the FS2004 version. Don't get me wrong, the graphics and scenery were outstanding, but I had a lot of issues with the program itself. Sometimes I would get errors in mid flight and it would shut down, the updates were complicated and sometimes didn't take, and the panels - well, I just couldn't seem to become accustomed to them. I didn't even bother trying to figure out how to get in the cfg files or update the panels themselves. But it was a great experience that showed me to stick with FS 2004. I can do anything in this one and I don't have to be on-line all the time to make it work properly.
However, I support you folks that like this program. It just wasn't right for my preferences. Good Luck to you all in finding what you can be satisfied with. In the end, that's really all that counts no matter what anyone else articulates.
