Alan, if you plan to keep it and want to speed it up, just reduce the parasite_drag_scalar in the [flight_tuning] section of the aircraft.cfg. Reduce it from 1.00 down to 0.50 for starters and see what you get for top speed. Fine tune the value until you're satisfied.

Hi Alan,

Guess I'm too late with this. I tried the Dauntless and found the same problem. It was fixable by swapping the .air file with a Vought F4U-7 Corsair. Any other similar aircraft may also work.

The simplest way is to set Terrain Detail to "Land Only" and set Water Effects to "Low".

It works for me. Give it a try.
