  1. Not really, Tim. Made up names are a little confusing. So, you can also name the sim FS11111100100 then. (thats obviously binary)

Why not just call it by it's proper name?

FS2004 was actually released in 2003! It was never called FS2003

FSX was released in 2006.. Never called FS2006

    FSX:SE in 2014, never named FS2014

So, trying to justify a made up name is redundant.

Let me put it this way - and I think someone already pointed this out.

If I say/write "MS Flight Simulator" you may or may not be confused which version you talk.

If you say/write MS Flight Simulator 2020" there is no space for confusion.

And I think being clear in a conversation among geeks is more important than to please MS Brand Manager and some forum orthodoxes ;)

    Am I right?

  2. Yeah, I was looking at orgx, they have some seriously sneaky pricing structures clearly designed to extract as much as possible from their customers. You'd almost think they were only in it for the money!

You are spot on. They are in it for the money.

    HOWEVER...

I came back to FSX/P3D 3 years ago after 10+ yrs. Whe I left I was on FSX: SE. When I came back it was looking exactly the same as when I left flughtsimming. Same goes for P3D.

Then I was introduced to ORBX.

And now FSX and P3D after adding ORBX Global, Vector, some OpenLC regions look totally 2019.

I have added couple of 3rd party planes and I am totally in love with my old hobby.

Whether ORBX, Lockheed Martin, A2A and others are in it for money or not - I do not care. I am just enjoying the stuff they deliver for the money :D
