  1. The texture.cfg is only needed if you are storing textures for one livery in more than one folder. That way you can put common textures in one folder and not need a copy in each livery folder.

Creating new textures will not work unless those texture names are called out in the .mdl file.

If you have Model Converter X (and you should) you can open the .mdl file in MCX and see what all textures are called out by the .mdl.

Bottom line, if the developer did not assign night textures to the model there is no way for you to add them.

  2. Actually it is using gauges that are included in the download. The panel.cfg calls them from a file named EXTRA.cab.

This is not the default FSX Extra gauges.

That said, the panel.cfg does call for a couple gauges that do not exist in that .cab file.

    gauge08=EXTRA!Starter, 189,507,67,64

    ...and...

    gauge11=EXTRA!Low-Voltage-Light, 424,495,25,24

    ...are not in EXTRA.cab.

You could 'borrow' the starter switch from the default Extra if you wish.

It does appear that A.F.Scrub 'borrowed' most of the gauges from the default Extra anyway.

  3. Glideslope angles in fsx are all 5%

No they are not. Take a look at London City, EGLC.

That said, 5 x groundspeed is a good guide for vertical speed until you lock on the glideslope.

[added]Also, in aviation glideslopes are referred to in degrees, not percents. Why complicate things by having to convert between the two?[/added]

  4. Did you know that you can access the Learning Center from outside the sim?

Navigate to [your FSX installation]\FSWeb\LearningCenter and start clicking around. The LC is HTML so you can view it in your web browser of choice.

  5. This works for one-off applications. However, if the addon is the first of many, it's better to have them all installed to the same HD location, in which case the FSX .cfg is the way to go... Like I said, either will do, the user simply makes the choice based on their skillset.

Where exactly, and how do you edit the FSX.cfg for scenery addon locations?

Been doing this a long time and this is the first time I have ever heard this.

  6. Could have swore I mentioned that. But like all my posts across the Internet no one can listen.

Actually, that is not at all what you said...

However, there are six files called 0_kdov_1.bgl, 0_kdov_2.bgl, etc that I can't decompile with an FS9 or FSX decompiler. If the fuel trigger is in one of those, I don't know. Only way to find out is to temp remove those six BGLs and see what happens.

I am saying that I do know those files are causing the issue.

  7. ... how do I run the bglcomp.exe from a command prompt window? I get to opening the command prompt window but don't know where to go from there.

    1) Place your .xml file in the same folder as bglcomp.exe

    2) Holding down the Shift key, right mouse click in that Window and you should get an option to "Open command window here"

    3) In the command window type - bglcomp filename.xml

    4) press Enter

    5) If you cannot sort out what is displayed in the command window, take a screenshot of it and post in a reply.

  8. The compiled *.bgl file should show up in the same folder as bglcomp.exe.

There are two possibilities to start with.

One could be the location, simply to test. Copy the folder containing bglcomp.exe to your Desktop and try running it there. Make sure to copy the entire folder, not just the .exe.

The second possibility is that there is an error in your .xml file. If you run bglcomp.exe from the Command Prompt that "code box" will not disappear and you can read the error message that is thrown by the exe.

  9. Not sure what this developer is trying to accomplish here, however I think the answer to your issue lies in the Alpha channel of fuselage_clear.bmp.

I would verify that you are using the Alpha channel that came with the package first, then you might try tweaking it to fix your flickering.

Any part of fuselage_clear.bmp that you do not want showing, paint the Alpha channel pure black, 0,0,0.

  10. Larry, if you like Bob Reeve, and a good book, you should look at Success on the Step. It is the story of Bob Munro and the founding of Kenmore Air. Lots of great stories about doing crazy things like landing float planes on glaciers, etc.

They also have a soft cover that will save you about $8 I think.

Not sure if it is available as an e-book, never looked.
