  1. Using the wrong type of defragger will destroy an SSD. Using Trim and Optimize will do what you want and not harm the drive. There are some "defraggers" for SSD's but they basically use the Trim command.

Please, when telling someone to defrag an SSD - explain exactly what program and what you mean to avoid some inexperienced user trashing his SSD.

Frankly, IMHO, if it says anything like defrag - don't use it period.

  2. I'm more than familiar, having most of their planes.

    This one is just luverly!

I agree. Only issue I have is the F1 GTN750 doesn't display in the VC. It will pop up with a shift 3. Tech support is looking into it. I've had a couple of fun first flights. Can't knock the 489kt cruise speed.

  3. They NEVER have supported earlier versions with additional development. Only because of many loud complaints did they even include the ability to download earlier versions. Initially, when they released a new major version, the other one disappeared. Now, 4.5 is dead to further developments but 5.x and 6.0 are still viable.

  4. Look in device manager and see if there are any issues with your sound devices.

Other than resetting all your system sound settings and sound settings within P3D you might try the P3D repair option.

edit: this post will go nowhere. A2A has it's policies, if you do not agree, you have control - do not buy. You've made your displeasure known no need to repeat it.

  6. First, do you know if the product is compatible with P3D? If not, don't bother. If it is, it's a bit more complicated than just dropping it into a folder. Get the freeware tool P4AO from https://www.lorby-si.com/downloads.html - it;s the Add On Organizer. Read the documentation to see whats involved.

Basically - create an Addon Scenery folder somewhere, create a Scenery subfolder

Put your bgl file in the Scenery sub folder you just created

Run P4AO and add scenery - it will walk you through creating the xml file necessary

after it is installed you need to move your airport to the top of the scenery file, you do this within P4AO.

But first check if it's compatible with P3D.

  7. ALL the weather engines work. Some work better than others and AS has proven to work the best of all. It really depends on what you are looking for in a weather addon. If all you want is some reasonable approximation of current weather with pretty clouds - they all do that. All except AS use a "themed" approach which is outlined in the P3D SDK. It looks fine but has some limitations. AS developed their own weather API. If you are looking for accurate depiction and are the type who calculates your fuel load based upon weather and wind - AS is the only one that is accurate enough to do that.

Simply put, the others place the clouds generally (theme) while AS places the clouds specifically and knows where they are in relation to the aircraft.

IIRC FSGRW has been around for years - if you just want clouds and general weather it's a good way to go and it's free (at least it was).

AS said they're shooting for a public beta this week.

  8. Long answer - no. Best bite the bullet and uninstall/reinstall. There is one thing you could try that might help. Let say you create a folder x:\P3D5 - now physically copy your current install to that folder. Now uninstall original and reinstall to new location; Many of your addons should work. Those that have registry entries won't. So those owuld have to be reinstalled. There's some other manipulations you could try BUT your best bet is uninstall and reinstall all.
