I'm installing it now, so in case this is any use to anyone...
I pre-ordered and received an email confirmation and a link to the order in my Hotmail account. Nowhere on there is there a link to installing the game.
instead I went back to the Windows store and then the option to purchase had been replaced by the option to install.
For me installation is in two parts. Part 1 (just over 1Gb from memory) suggests it is installing the game but really this feels like a 1Gb installer. when I opened this I was then led through a couple of screens for accessibility and something else I don't recall and now I'm downloading 95Gb of data to complete the installation.
Hope that helps.

So, the imminent arrival of FS2020 is what has spurred me on to update my 2010 spec PC!
Old:-
Core2Quad Q6600, Arctic Freezer cooler, P35 chipset motherboard, 8gb RAM, Nvidia 8800GT, Spinning HDD
New:-
i5-9600K, AIO water cooking, Z390 Chipset motherboard, 16gb RAM, RTX2060 Super, Nvme SSD, Delanclip head tacking.
The head tracking is already making a massive difference in DCS and I can’t wait to go sightseeing in MSFS!

Water levels too high!
in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 General Discussion
Posted
Been flying a lot since release and I'm frankly loving it, but I am a casual simmer.
One thing that does irk me however is that water levels all seem to be about 1 to 3m too high. Flying down the Thames and so much of the river architecture / furniture is just below the surface.
Same when flying along coast lines, so many features all just below the surface... did we melt the poal ice caps producing this sim? ;-)
