  1. Hello Bob (I hope you still are a member here)

Firstly thanks heaps for the PAD web site which now has been closed.

I did download quite a few aircraft.

I have a question regarding use of any of the flyable models.

Who do I request permission from to use any of the (FSX) flyable aircraft to create static scenery objects for use in scenery which I may release as freeware?

    Thanks

    John

  2. Overall I agree. The constant fixing, breaking, fixing it again cycle is getting tiresome.

But...I still have wakes on my floatplanes. I just checked with the float-equipped 172. Maybe it's a problem of a specific airplane. Which one did you try?

I have found the problem. I was using my favorite amphibian the Cessna Skyhawk (I think it is a freeware one) and when I checked out the Textron 172 and the Icon A5 they both show wakes. I am positive the Skyhawk showed a wake before SU7. I must contact the chap who created it and tell him.

    Thanks

  3. Do you remember what you turned off?

I turned off many things BUT I think the ones which fixed the rudder problem and throttle problem were corrected by turning off one of more of the following

    PILOTING

    Auto Rudder

    Assisted Checklist

    Assisted Landing

    Assisted Takeoff

    AI Anti Stall

    I also turned off

    NOTIFICATIONS

    Flying tips

    Objectives

    Software tips

    I hope this helps

  4. Please advise what to do (workabout) about the rudder returning to the neutral position even with the joystick is held on full rudder. Also how to stop the throttle going full on even though it is set to idle on the Joystick. All this started with SU7 - why?

This only happens when flying a 'free flight' I don't have the problems flying a training mission or adventure.

    [added later]

After searching the internet I found that SU7 reset all settings and so I went 'looking' and changed many from ON to OFF. That seems to have fixed the problem.

Still it is annoying that SU7 could have either advised/warned users during the update that all user settings would be reset and to check them after the update OR better still NOT to change them although maybe this was not possible with the changes being implemented.

  5. I too am experiencing problems and at present flying a 'free flight' is impossible as the rudder keeps returning to the neutral position even with rudder held on full 'deflection' using the joystick. Also the throttle control on my joystick stops controlling the engine and with it in the idle position the engine can suddenly go to full throttle.

I have tried another joystick and the same happens.

YET when I fly a training mission or adventure it all works perfectly.

I am really annoyed that SU7 has screwed me up.

  6. Not sure if this also doesn't happen and that is the effect of the blast from jet engines blowing water off the tarmac. I have never checked but wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen. X-Plane has had it for years together with wakes etc etc. I understand that some 3rd party aircraft creators are holding back development and release until they get some sort of confirmation from Asobo as to when this might happen.

MSFS has a long way to go before 'catching up' with X-Plane regarding effects and I wished I had some i information a when we might expect to have it. If unknown or not for say a year or more I might go back to using X-Plane. Lots more addon aircraft too.

  7. There are also programs made to turn off (without deleting) files in your Community folder. I use MSFS Addons Linker (https://www.flightsim.to/file/1572/msfs-addons-linker)

it is free and allows me to turn off whichever files, such as scenery I don't want to load up. Great way to organize and keep the load times down.

    Thanks David for that link.

I was not aware of this and had been using ModMan to place addons to the community folder.

  8. just have a love of deHavilland aircraft!

You would be too young to remember the DH Dragon Rapide. As a very young boy, in the 1950's my parents often drove past an aerodrome (what they used to be called) and there was a Dragon Rapide (didn't know what they were at the time) sitting next to the road at the aerodrome for joy flights and I longed to go but never did. Nearby was a De Havilland factory http://vhjet.com/blog/tag/de-havilland-aircraft-bankstown/

  9. I have just discovered it's not just sunken ships it is also sunken docks.

I am currently creating a new airport which is a water airport for float planes. In the real world there are long docks where the float planes tie up and you can see those docks in MSFS BUT they are underwater.

If you take off from CAP3 and head around 330 you will fly over a town named Sechelt and you can see what I mean.

  10. They may not have piston engines for ever though.

Wonder if this model would be included in Aerosoft's future Beaver project?

That is absolutely incredible. I have seen plenty of electric powered model aircraft would never have thought it was possible for anything but a single seat full sized aircraft to be propelled by electric motor.

  11. I have found an addon floatplane at https://mega.nz/file/69IFxKwT#XET7bX999hIqDsdp_mPmxs0EpFkNcr8idkmjZW7eCac

it is a X CUB float variation.

I have also found a (addon) water airport at https://flightsim.to/file/1915/como-alzate-brianza-milano-bresso which is at a lake in Italy.

Selecting the airport (ICAO LILY) you will see it displayed as follows which is deceptive as it seems that the airport is on land not water. The selectable runways are displayed as 01W and 19W (W for water) and the parking locations are displayed as Ramp 1, 2 and 3 when when selected also display (DOCK).

Selecting parking Ramp3 it is displayed as follows -

  12. Is that twotter by Aerosoft and amphibian?

I certainly hope so as I cannot find any of the water airports I used to use in FSX not even the ones in larger cities such as Victoria and Vancouver. Water airports exist in FSX with docks etc as parking locations which can be selected as departure location. I cannot find ANY in MSFS and if I simply select a custom start point (in the water) the flight starts in the AIR not on the water.

Since the A5 amphibian is included I would have thought that there should be a few water airports.

Wow there is a lot to be desired in MSFS. I should have waited a couple of years before moving from FSX!

  13. I can't wait for the Aerosoft Twotter to be released and more so someone to create a Beaver so that I can do seaplane flights around Vancouver, Sechelt (there is already reasonable scenery there in MSFS), Comox, Tofino, Nanaimo, Victoria etc. BC has such great scenery. I know that I can do this with the A5 but the older 'workhorses' are better especially the Beaver with its piston engine and non glass instruments panel.
  14. Apparently (I have not verified) the HMS Belfast (light cruiser that was built for the Royal Navy, now permanently moored as a museum ship on the River Thames in London) was showing as being sunk until Orbx released London scenery (at a cost) showing it correctly floating in the River Thames).

I also dare say that Destroyer Vampire and HMB Endeavour (permanent floating vessels at Sydney Maritime Museum) are also shown as sunk - I can't verify that as I have Orbx Sydney scenery installed which displays them floating.
