WW2 New Guinea Sightseeing Disaster in Hidden Valley/Shangri-La

By Frank's MS Flight Sim

In 1945, during WW2, in Dutch New Guinea, a USAAF C-47 Skytrain sightseeing flight went horribly wrong. Intending to over-fly recently discovered beautiful Hidden Valley / Shangri-La, with its stone age-type natives, the aircraft crashed high in the mountains surrounding the narrow entrance pass into the Valley. Only 3 of the 24 on board survived after an agonising six weeks in the jungle. Hope you find this interesting. Cheers.

About Frank's MS Flight Sim

New channel begun in 2021. Visit notable airfields and areas in Microsoft Flight Simulator (MSFS). Themes so far include: WW2; Bush/Mt./Water/Outback strips; “Golden Oldie” strips; heritage/vintage strips; and aircraft accident investigations. More different themes to come. Expect a new video roughly each week. Provides brief, interesting information, often with history, geography, maps, pictures etc, and great places to fly in MSFS. Focus is on interesting content rather than production values.

What a story!  Always enjoy your work, especially of little known or nearly forgotten bits of history.    My father was a paratrooper in the Pacific Theater so additional interest here for myself.  Thank you !
