pcohen
Hello everybody out there. It's been a few Years now since I played FS9 or FSX. I currently still have both versions on their relevant CD's with their relevant Original Activation Codes. However, and this Is the problem, Having recently Re-Installed both FS9 & FSX on my Computer I find having entered the Activation Codes for both FS9 & FSX and both being Accepted, I am only allowed to play for about 20 Minutes or so before being told "thanks for playing" and being closed down. Any Help with this please? Many thanks Paul. Windows 10 2020. Processor: AMD Ryzon 5 3600 6-Core Processor 3.59 GHz. Installed memory (RAM): 16.0 GB. jgf
I suspect registry permissions. Generically, do not install older software, particularly games, to any "Program Files" folder; run installers and program exe as admin; make sure your account has full access to the install folders; for FS9 you may have to use XP SP3 or Win7 SP1 compatibility mode
pcohen
Hi jgf, Thanks for reply. Have tthis without any success thanks. Admin Issues have always been a problem for me, can never seem to get them right. One of the reasons I gave up with FSX originally! Many thanks Paul. Windows 10 2020. jorgen.s.andersen
As said in another thread, I have UAC turned off, I run installers as Administrator, I do not install anything to C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(x86), and I run the application's main .exe file as Administrator. pcohen
Hi jorgen, thanks and apologies for the late reply. As previously said, I seem to have a mega problem getting my Administrator settings in the right order. whether to set them to run in compatibility mode with Windows XP, Windows 7 or currently using Windows 10. Using Windows 10, I only Install FS9 or FSX Into Drive C:\ and NOT Into Programme Files or Programme Files x86. Also I don't know what UAC Is? Hope this is Is of some help. many thanks Paul. jorgen.s.andersen
The administrator thingy is relatively easy. When you run the installer, you usually double-click on some .exe file, right? Instead, right-click on it, and from the menu that comes up, select "Run as administrator". Setting a program to always run as administrator is also easy. For example with FSX.EXE, right-click on it and the select "Properties". You'll now see a screen with some tabs, select the tab titled "Compatibility". Put a checkmark in the box titled "Run this program as an administrator", click on "Apply", then on "OK" and you're done. UAC stands for "User Account Control" and is intended to make it more difficult for people with malicious intent to cause damage to your computer. I don't know if I'm just paranoid, but as Windows have progressed from Windows 8 and on, UAC has become more and more intrusive and in the way of what I wanted to do, so I searched the web for how to turn it off. After I did that, my computing life has become so much easier. But, I am the only one using this computer, and I am very careful about the websites I visit. BTW: are you really on Win 10 build 2020? jorgen.s.andersen
Windows 10 is actually up to 22H2 now. And regarding FS9, I never had it. Jorgen
