The things one can do in FS9, almost unlimited. Took Transamerica DC-8 to London City airport. Never happened in reality but my FS9 with over 600 aircraft and add-on scenery can provide just about anything. Any aircraft, any airport, any weather. A real joy! Tribute to FS9!!

Jep i really love that the possibilities in FS9 are just unlimited... that's the positive side of FS9... it provides so much more than all the newer sims for example... and that's why i still stick to it! And won't even think about moving on in ten years to come...

for now, lets go to St. Maarten, with Silver Airways, Fairchild Saab SF340

From Darrenvox: "nice shots there @beroun, ive never succomed to liking the dc-8 panel as the a/p is too hard to figure out"

That is why I installed a different autopilot to my DC8s Darren.

Cheers

I find many "vintage" autopilots virtually indecipherable;  either they don't seem to do anything or I think it's set up properly only to engage it and the aircraft takes off for parts unknown.  So they get replaced with something I find useful, though I often repaint the graphics to better match the panel.  Even, horror! heresy!, add APs to aircraft that never had them, just so I can take care of RL without having to pause the flight (but just a simple gauge that holds alt and hdg).

Many early "autopilots" were nothing more than simple wing levelers, and may have had small control wheels to adjust pitch and/or bank. Sometimes we expect to much from a system that what it was designed to do,

I personally like the older panels, more work to fly, but I learn a lot and have more respect for the pilots who came before me,

Researching how the actual system was supposed to work can be very informative.

Always Aviate, then Navigate, then Communicate. And never be low on Fuel, Altitude, Airspeed, or Ideas.

Approaching Kharkiv...
unfortunately I highly doubt that this City is still looking anywhere like this as of today... it rather had been destroyed by the barbaric russians... but let's just enjoy flying, not be political in here...

Hi David25210, you got me there. Have 100s of aircraft and must admit that I do not keep the initial downloads. But most likely my DC8s came from Cal Classic Tom Gibson's patch. The panel probably also, although I did few mods there.

Gents on autopilots:

Must say that I have definitelly sinned:) Got few different APs and also few of my own and use these randomly at my aircraft as needed. Unfortunately often defeating reality on account of my comfort.  Like to enjoy my coffee when cruising. Shame on me:):)

Cheers
