Where's All the AI Aircraft?

It recently occurred to me that I haven't seen an AI plane in the air in over a week. There are plenty on the ground and at the gates, but nothing in the air. (I hear ATC talking to other planes, but I seldom see them.) In settings, AI traffic is surely set to ON (not Live), and density is at 100 percent! I assume there's a performance penalty with a lot of traffic, but this sparseness is totally unrealistic.

 

Any ideas, guys? Or explanations?

I have two addon sceneries where a 172 taxies out and vanishes over the horizon.Despite having the sliders at 100%,I have never seen anything else in 600 hours.!

Actually, I did a few night flights since my post, and I have seen several moving lights in the sky. That's a good sign!
