cianpars
Just swapped out my Ryzen 2700 for a 5600x and what a big surprise. On the RWY at UK2000 EGGD I was getting 15-17 FPS and now getting 32-33. At Mark Taylors Bristol City scenery I was struggling at 5-6 and I'm now getting in the 20s. The sim as smooth as silk and my settings are completely maxed out. I knew that my system was CPU bound, but it's simply rocking with this £300 upgrade. I will check it out over countryside and in a few other settings later, but I'm blown away ATM. cianpars
Nearly did the same thing getting the 2700 out. I forgot to warm up the PC and the CPU lifted out with the cooler. I thought some pins might go, but got lucky for a change. MikeF
This is going to be a dumb question but HOW are you guys determining if you are either CPU or GPU deficient in MSFS? I get decent performance with my PC now and I think it is probably pretty balanced but it wouldn't hurt to check, I guess. MikeF
After I posted my question I did some looking in what the ATI app does that is installed with the video driver. It will show the CPU and GPU load so I will take a look there next time I load up MSFS. Thanks for the answers anyway. cianpars
Just ordered an M.2 1TB solid state drive to compliment this rig and clone my 250 GB SSD containing MSFS onto it. I wonder how much effect that is going to have on performance and loading times - it will be interesting, I'm sure. Anyone else switched to M.2 noticed much difference? cianpars
Didn't lose much on the old 2700. Paid £136 for it a while back and sold it for £130 on Gumtree this morning. Tech prices are completely mad, aren't they?
