AV8R-01 joystick

Recommended Posts

Ive been using this in FSX for years now, I have tried to map it in fs2020 to no avail, please help me. I've spent $120 for the game, and I'd really not want to spend another $100 or more for a controller if I don't have to.

Also had the same problem and figured it out, created this account to share.

When selected on the AV8R in the control menu, on the left side is filter, once i choose all it let me finally assign controls.

I will try to share my AV8R controller profile, it took me a while to map some basic controls, trims, HAT/POV switches etc.

I will try to share my AV8R profile which had the basic controls mapped. Took me a while to make it.

It has:

Camera switch, internal/external

Camera view HAT/POV

Flight controls, flaps, landing gear

Trims, elevator and aileron

Active pause

Throttle

Rudder

av84profile.txt

Attached my profile for the AV8R joystick.

It was in the following folder (this is the Windows Store version FS2020, not Steam):

C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs\0009000000A24FF2_00000000000000000000000069F80140\30AE2E26EA044B7CAAE1AAFE4A60A395

You will need to use the actual file and folder names in your FS2020 install folder.

1. Go to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs\0009000000A24FF2_00000000000000000000000069F80140 folder and take a screenshot of the existing folders.

2. In FS2020, create a new profile for the AV8R controller. Save it and exit.

2. Go to C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs\0009000000A24FF2_00000000000000000000000069F80140 folder and look for a newly created folder (other than the ones from Step 1).

3. In that new folder you will see a file with a long alphanumeric name, like F690BCAD75ED4149A403B9059B4EB48A, and a container.x (some number). Open the alphanumeric named file in a text editor, and replace it's contents with contents of the attached profile file.

4. Save and close the file

5. Go to FS2020 and check the newly created Av8R profile again, it should have all the mappings.

Once you update your profile, and all is ok, here are the mappings. Not all buttons are mapped yet, but you can add more as you like.

Axes:

Y: elevator

R: Rudder (handle twist)

1. Trigger: Brake

2. Red button: camera switch - cockpit, external

3. Middle big button: external view focus

4. Right button: Landing gear toggle

Red Switch: Mode A

5. T1: flaps decrease

6. T2: flaps increase

7. T3: Elevator trim (nose down)

8. T4. Elevator trim (nose up)

I am getting there finally.

Trigger is breaks, Button 2 is nav/gps mode. 3 & 4 are right/left breaks

5 flaps decrease, 6 flaps increase, 7 throttle decrease, 8 throttle increase

10 parking break, and 11 landing gear.

My 2 throttle levers will work but its all or nothing. I can't adjust the throttle back to like 75% with them. The buttons work fine.

Forgot about the hat switch, have them for looking inside the cockpit...

Its a work in progress.
