About This File

FS2004 Scenery--Mobile Downtown Airport, KBFM, Alabama (AL) is the former Brookley Air Force Base. At the northern edge of the field there is a group of very large concrete hangars that were built before World War 2. The Teledyne Continental Motors complex is located there. Brookley is a dense area with many large buildings and warehouses, but only the TCM facility is represented at this time. The scenery is approximately as it existed in the 1990s when TCM operated an FBO out of the line shack in front of the right hangar. This hangar contained the corporate fleet, the TCM Flying Club, and several interesting aircraft. The hangars on the left contained machine shops for the engine production line. Another group of hangars on the right was used by Mobile Aerospace Engineering for the refurbishing of large aircraft. The remaining buildings include production lines, engine test cells, shops, warehouses, and administrative buildings. By John L. Woodward.
