About This File

CFS Scenery--Neubrandenburg-Trollenhagen, Germany. During the war, in the years 1939-44, the air base was home af a flight school equiped with Focke Wulf Weihe, DO 17 Z and later with the DO 217 as successor. During Allied raids on 25 August and 5 October 1944, the airport was highly damaged by two attacks of American bombers, which destroyed a part of the hangars, accommodations and parts of the taxiways. Still in 1994 ruins of these air raids are visible, with an ME 110 shot down which have been still today deeply sunk in the underground at the east edge of the airfield. In the early 1950's the airfield was re-constructed for the DDR Air Force who placed some units of MiG 21 on Trollenhagen airfield. Today, Neubrandenburg-Trollenhagen is both: civilian airport of Neubrandenburg and Trollenhagen military airport of the Luftwaffe. By Edmundo Abad.
