About This File

FS2004 Airline HUD. This is a HUD designed specifically for air line operations. Hours of work have been dedicated to this project. FS2004 has always lacked a HUD suitable for airliners. Well now it's here. Not only does this HUD display accurate symbology, it also warns both visually and audibly of detected icing conditions. By Michael Lehkamp and Edward Cox.

No. Thank you Bob. Your work was literally the foundation for this project and I personally could have never accomplished the newer version without it. I cannot begin to think of the countless hours you invested in creating it. All thanks goes to you. - Michael

Bit confused!

the main gauge hud2b9 downloaded as a blank xml???

Instructions are hard to follow. Referring to forums for help? The instructions could be brief and comprehensive! It is pity, so much effort must have been put into this project.

Example:

gauge00=gaHud29!HUDtoggle.xml,, 92, 180,25,25 // you do not put .xml when assigning the gauge.

No ICE gauge?????

What does below mean??

[Window Titles]

Window00=Boeing 767 Main Panel

Window01=Boeing 767 Overhead

Window02=Boeing 767 Pedestal

Window03=Boeing 767 FMC

Window04=hud2 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

[Window00]

gauge00=gaHud29!HUDtoggle.xml,, 92, 180,25,25 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

gauge01=gaHud29!Timer, 0,0,10,10 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

[Window01]

gauge33=dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Sound, 2,2,2,2,./Sound/B767/B767_sound.ini

[Window04]

gauge00=gaHud29!hud2B9, 20,20,200,166 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

[Window06]

gauge07=ICE!IceWarning, 480,275,57,14 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Would help to create a new window to be used for the Hud pop up. Would be less effort than all above!

I have a vast experience in creating/assigning gauges but this one is a real winner (sorry for irony)

You have a "vast experience in creating & assigning gauges" yet you you cannot figure this out'? Now thats what I call irony LOL. You are under no obligation to use this package. Have a good one.

Thanks for your response, certainly will not use it. Have happy New Year and thanks for all your efforts. Surely all good intentions and hard work. Cheers

Further to above, curious to know since when you are putting the gauge folders directly to aircraft folder :

"1. Place the "gaHud29" folder into the aircraft you wish to have the Hud. For example if your aircraft is B747-400, after install it would read B747-400/gaHud29.".

Also, why the main gauge xml hud2B9 downloads as blank xml - not functional? Perhaps my system deletes it?

Please let me know if I am missing something.

I will be happy to help you if your manner remains positive and not condescending as in your first post. Many of us on here will happily drop what we are doing to help you if you are polite.

I have downloaded the package from Flightsim that I uploaded. Therefore I know for a fact the XML's are not blank as you describe. If they are blank on your system then perhaps some antivirus program maybe the cause. I'm guessing. I do not know.

TO INSTALL

Place the gaHud29 folder into the panel directory of whatever aircraft you wish to add it to.

The XML for the Hud , as well as the ice gauge, are in this folder.

Also make sure you copy the B767 folder into your main FS9 sound folder.

And, copy the dsd_fsx_xml_sound.gau file into your main FS9 gauge folder.

Next you need to edit the aircraft panel.cfg file where you wish to use. This can be done in many ways and assumes folks have some knowledge of editing the panel file. To get you up and running, I will provide an example of how to add this the FS9 stock Boeing737-400 panel.

Open the panel file and scroll down to [Window00]. Then scroll down the {Window00] section until you get to the very last gauge entry. Mine happens to be gauge40=SimIcons!GPS Icon, 236, 10. Drop one line and number in sequence. In this example next gauge would be 41. So type in:

gauge41=dsd_fsx_xml_sound!Sound, 2,2,2,2,./Sound/B767/B767_sound.ini

Next scroll down to the [Window03] area. Do the same as above and scroll down this area until you get to the last gauge entry. In my case its gauge08=737-400!Engine Start Right, 273, 17. Now jump one line down and type in:

gauge09=gaHud29!HUDtoggle, 71,38,25,25 // adds Night, Day, Off Modes - You can place this whereever

gauge10=gaHud29!Timer, 0,0,10,10 //Timer for sound file

At last, we need to add a new window area. So scroll to top of file. Last entry should be: window05=mcp.

Jump down a line an type in:

window06=hud2

Then scroll down just past the [Window05] area and type in:

[Window06]

Background_color=0,0,0

size_mm=202,168

//windowsize_ratio=1.0

visible=0

ident=304

window_pos= 0.33, 0.02

gauge00=gaHud29!hud2B9, 20,20,200,166 //you can massage these numbers to size

Unless I've forgotten something, that is it. You should now have the gauge installed. Open FS. Choose default B737-400 aircraft. The overhead panel, Shift 4, will have the to which allows you to go from mode to mode. Shift 6 should bring up the HUD window. You can undock if you wish.

Hi and many thanks,

unfortunately, the main gauge (hud2B9,xml) still downloads as a blank xml (30kb). Tried to download it number of times and no luck, All other gauges (xmls) in gaHud29 folder download, OK? So, unless I crack it, it is a no-go for me. Perhaps you can email me the xml text??? peterbe1948@gmail.com

Cheers

Maybe you'd be better off using something else. You stated earlier "Thanks for your response. Will definitely not use it". Therefore, I'm not sure why I'm wasting my time here.

I set out to create this update specifically for my home simulator. Unfortunately my XML skills are not as polished as some of my other code skills. So I reached out to Ed for help. Ed who is in the middle of developing his own work, basically dropped everything, and helped me see this to completion. And it works perfectly. So after some thought, I thought it would be nice to release it to the community. Couple of reasons. There really isn't any alternative for FS9 that is freeware and works independently with any jet aircraft. But perhaps the biggest reason being that I felt Mr. Kellogg would expect us to do so. It's folks like him that have devoted a huge amount of the their time to provide us with life like products for free.

So I'm sorry this didn't work out for you. Very sorry we didn't create an installer for you. For the majority this program will do just as it describes. That said, i do not intend to respond any further to someone that has no intention of using it. I simply don't have the time. All the best.

Sorry for wasting your time, but you suggested the alternative above. Thanks for your efforts, will no longer pursue this issue.
