About This File

X-Plane 11 Scenery--KEGE Eagle County Regional Airport 1.0. Eagle County Regional Airport sits at 6,547 feet ASL in Gypsum, Colorado (CO), USA, 37 miles from Vail. The History Channel listed it as number 8 on its list of Most Extreme Airports in July 2010 due to the elevation, weather, approach through mountainous terrain and challenging departure procedures. During ski season KEGE is the second busiest airport in Colorado after Denver International due to its proximity to Vail and Beaver Creek ski resorts. The airport is popular with private aircraft operators and has one of the top rated fixed-base operators in the country, the Vail Valley Jet Center. The adjoining Colorado Army National Guard High-Altitude ARNG Aviation Training Site (HAATS) was established in 1985 to provide "graduate level" training to military helicopter pilots flying in mountainous terrain and/or high temperatures. This version of KEGE is a complete remake and features all custom buildings. I made it as accurate as I could working with a limited number of photos and other materials. It includes the new section of the terminal building, with four jetways, which was opened in 2019. Also included is the new de-icing pad at the east end of the runway. To install, unzip and place the folder KEGE Eagle County into your X-Plane 11 Custom Scenery folder. Two additional scenery object libraries are required for the scenery to display properly: CDB library (CDB_LIBRARY.ZIP) and OpenSceneryX (OPENSCENERYX.ZIP). By Sidney Schwartz.
