About This File

FSX British Heavy Fighter Westland Whirlwind Updated. The Westland Whirlwind was a British twin-engined heavy fighter developed by Westland Aircraft. A contemporary of the Supermarine Spitfire and Hawker Hurricane, it was the first single-seat, twin-engined, cannon-armed fighter of the Royal Air Force. When it first flew in 1938, the Whirlwind was one of the fastest combat aircraft in the world and with four Hispano-Suiza HS.404 20 mm autocannon in its nose, the most heavily armed. This is the model designed by Kaznori Ito for FS2004, now updated for FSX. It features reworked VC and 2D panel with all new gauges. Panel updates and FDE improvements by Michael Pook. All credits go to Kazunori Ito for the original model, which now may also work in FS2004 and P3D, Version 3.

Loaded this aircraft yesterday into both FS9 and FSX. Works well in both but, in my opinion, works a little better, i.e., handles a bit easier in FS9 than FSX. That may be because I still prefer FS9 over FSX. Whatever, it's a good model and, once I get used to it, will provide lot's of interesting flying. Thanks Michael.

Shame that Michael perpetuated the error of substituting oil pressure gauges on the upper right of the panel rather than the correct rpm gauges.

Aircraft looks good and is lovely and responsive to fly,..... the first time I have tried " seat of the pants flying " on a sim,.... the panel just did not show up at all, so the approach and landing, although smooth and trouble free, was a" guesstimate ".

Some advice on how to find and produce the panel would be really helpful
