About This File

FSX RV-9A side by side low wing Vans aircraft. Kit plane by Vans Aircraft. This plane is remarkable in that it will cruise at 186 mph (162 kt) at 75% power at 8,000 ft and will land at 50 mph (44 k). I designed the 2D cockpit to match the usual custom built, but I included a virtual cockpit designed by Chuck Dome who help me with this model back in 2014. I have enjoyed this plane and hope you do also. Chuck provided a red, a blue and a green version. The red and the blue plane has my 2D cockpit but the C Dome virtual cockpit which is a glass cockpit. The green plane has both 2D and 3D cockpit by Chuck Dome. By Joseph Dwayne Redding.

I have not been using FS2004 for a few years and I have obviously overstated. I will reinstall FS2004 if I can and get back to those who are interested in a week or so. I have been running FSX without any problems. J Dwayne Redding

Dwayne:

Great job with the plane! I actually fly it in P3D, but with a different panel. Keep up the good work.

I installed it in FS2004 and got an error message. "...incompatible software%u2026" Seems to work only in FSX :-((

I have a similar plane that I used the same panel for which was a RV-6A but it is not one I feel I could share so I am sorry that my title mentioned FS2004. Today I discovered that my RV-9A has a strange event when you stop the pushback. I fixed that by opening the aircraft.cfg file and scrolling down to [GeneralEngineData], then edit the 2nd line which has Engine.0= -2.4, 0.0, 0.0 by changing -2.4 to 4.4. (I first tried 2.4 but that did not fix the problem, so I next tried 4.4 ) Notice the - (minus) is removed.) jdredding wbredsail@yahoo.com

Important update suggestion for RV-9A. A day or so ago I decided to fly the RV-9A out of Mexico City, elev about 7000. I barely had enough power for level flight so I edited the aircraft.cfg to read under [piston_engine] power_scalar=1.25 . This improved the performance significantly. There may be other solutions but I wanted to get ahead of future disappointments for those kind people who have downloaded this plane. J Dwayne Redding BTW The clouds at the Mexico City airport were so low and so thick that it really was an IFR situation. Quite a shock when I had just selected world location and was expecting VFR conditions, and then to not have enough power.

Unfortunately can't seem to fire her up in FS2004, shame this as I have been looking for one of these for years! Though if you would like me to design an FS2004 compatible 2D panel based off my own real world RV-9A I'd be happy to do that! Or if you'd like a photo of it or the aircraft your more than welcome! Drop me a message on ops.vsar@gmail.com if you would like me to help out at all! I'm into panels myself, but never had the chance to learn modeling so VC's are out of my league unfortunately which is a shame!

Looks great though! Thank you for developing it!
