About This File

FSX/P3D v3 Boeing 314 Clipper flying boat with VC. A PAA Pacific Clipper Boeing 314 with interior. The Boeing 314 was a long-range passenger flying boat. Four engines a 1600 hp allowed a speed up to 300 km/h. Only 12 units were built between 1938 and 1941. The luxury interior included dining room, smoker compartment and sleeping cabins. The original model was built by Mike Stone and works also with the common repaints. Reworked model by inserting a virtual cockpit plus other interior is done by Erwin Welker.

sadly, doesn't work in FSX either . . . once plane begins acceleration, get the splash/crash on screen. Beautiful model though. Remember the one by a group (from Germany, i believe) called "Pilots" ?

Oddly enough it works fine for me in FSX. The one from Germany is from Pilot's Aircraft. I have it for FS2004, but it's a challenge to fly with simulation rate increased due to the limited autopilot.

Yup. Same here, locks up the selection menu. This is probably a highly anticipate freeware due to the VC and my disappointment is only alleviated by the fact that I have an excellent payware 314 for FS2004.

well, in contrast to what some of you guys are saying, my dreams of having this beautiful model with a functioning vc have finally come true. As far as I am concerned, it works perfectly in FSX, don't know about FS2004 though as I've never used it. And above all, the modelling and views of the different compartments is just overwhelming considering this is a freeware! So a big thank to Erwin Welker for his work!

Hi FS2004 users,

sorry, I have forgotten to write into the Readme.txt that I do not have anymore FS2004 since I have a new PC with Windows10. But almost all of my FSDS models works in FS2004. And since Mike Stones Model was originaly a FS2004 model I am sure also the new Clipper will work in FS2004.

Of course teh FSX cameras which shows all the interior will not work in fS2004 but that's normal.

I recommend to replace my aircraft.cft and ...Air with Mike Stones original one. Then use this views:

//----------------------------------------------------------

[Views]

eyepoint= 18.7,-2.5, 7.2

Longitudinal, Lateral, Vertical (feet)

//----------------------------------------------------------

I will contact somebody who is using FS2004 for testing. If successful I will edit extra FS2004 panel views to show some internal views and than I nwill publish a pure FS2004 version.

Sorry for inconvinience!

If you miss water effects then please verify ...

... if you have that effects in your simulator. If not please add!

[effects]

wake=fx_wake

water=fx_bobspray2

Or you replace the entry for wake and water with effects of your choice!

For me works fine in FSX but texture is too shiny compared to the good shine in original FS9 livery. Seems there's a compatability problem with the model in FS9 which causes the freeze.

Hi valann, hi FS2004 users!

thanks for the information!

About the shine:

A:This model is compatible with repaints. So you can use also other paints but you have to us MY Prop textures!"

B: Create a 256x256 bitmap in a very bright grey. This is your alphachannel. Edit my external textures with DxtBmp, import an Alphachannel (the grey bitmap you have created) and save this in dxt3 format.

So darker the Alphachanel, so more shine; so brighter so less shine!

About the FS9 freeze: Maybe there is a set of gauges incompatible with FS2004. Since I do not have anymore FS2004 I can not test it by my own. Sorry!

Please try to disable suspicius gauges by setting // in front of the gauge in the Panel,cfg. If it then works you know which gauges has to be replaced with others.

Am flying FSX in Windows 10.

Splashes/crashes during water landings, no matter how careful I am with my approach speed and flare.

Splashes/crashes during water takeoff runs, no matter how careful I am.

Surprisingly, I have been able to takeoff from a runway at PHNL, even though this aircraft has no landing gear.

Unless these things can be fixed, NOT A KEEPER!

Hi wji948

I have tested in FSX and in P3dV3. Also some friends has tested successfully in FSX. The Clipper flies extremly smooth. It should be very easy to go airborn and same easy to do landings.

I recommend to turn crash detection off! Maybe this helps!

Yes . . . . splash/crash here also. I have FSX-SE, so, could there be a compatibility issue with the different version of FSX? Again -- otherwise a great model. love the interiors, etc.

. . . . .tried no crash settings. place began accelerating, but then stopped and began moving backwards! Don't know if this information helps. Really do appreciate your work, have several of your uploads from flightsim.

Erwin - Took your advice. I actually set Realism Settings/Crash Tolerance to lowest setting (easy). It now takes off from water and lands on water very well. This aircraft flies very well and is nicely modeled. Thank you.

Hi FS2004 users!

Bad news!

After intensive testings of an FS2004 user, even with my redux VC, seems there is no way to let it run in FS2004.

I have buildt allready more than 150 FSDS models and allmost all runs from FS2004 up to P3dv3. But the Clipper don't like. No idea why!

I am very sorry!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FSX users:

Please set the realism to easy, crash tolerance to lowest setting. The bird will fly extremly smooth and easy, like an Albatros!

Have fun

Just tried this beautiful aircraft in FSX / Windows 10. However (as sfgarland already mentioned), when taking off, after gaining some speed and still in the water, it suddenly veers to the left and goes into reverse. Something is wrong here, something wrong in the aircraft.cfg or air file perhaps?

I have several other types of flying boats and sea planes in FSX that take off and land just fine. So nothing wrong with my FSX settings.

Found some things in the aircraft.cfg file that needed correction and solved the problems of veering to the left and/or going in reverse direction during the take-off acceleration:

- Contact points: point.15, at point 1 (Longitudinal Position) the value was -4.08. Changed this to -48.0 (same value when compared to point.14, point 1). (Now symmetrical values for point.14 and point.15)

- Contact points: point.6 thru point.9, at point 0 (Class) changed indicator from 1 (wheel) to 2 (scrape).

Solved the problems for me, this plane now takes off fine and flies very well in FSX.
