X-Plane 11 Hawker Hunter WB188 2.0. This was the first prototype which was modified and flown by Neville Duke in 1953 to gain the world airspeed record along the South Coast of England. On 7 September 1953, Duke set a new world air speed record of 727.63 mph (1,171.01 km/h), flying Hunter WB188. With this world record Neville Duke exceeded the unofficial world record set by Heini Dittmar with the Me 163 BV18. This record was broken shortly after by Mike Lithgow flying a Supermarine Swift in Libya. This aeroplane is on display at Tangmere, from where it originally made its record breaking flight. The major modifications were an Avon engine with re-heat, pointed nose and a split airbrake to the tail (plus a lot of polish). Please feel free to hack it around and make any improvements.
