FS98 Army Corps Boeing Stearman-75. Early Boeing Stearman-75 Biplane Trainer in U.S. Army Corps livery, powered by a 220 Hp Continental R-670-4 radial engine, with a wooden propeller and a top speed of 124 mph. It was designed in 1934, and over 8500 Units were built. Thousands of pilots learnt to fly in this biplane, which was reputed as temperamental and quirky on the ground but stable in flight, as well as being capable of some impressive acrobatics. There are still hundreds flying upto the present day, often appearing at air-shows. The unit depicted in this release is a Stearman PT-17, No. 28, is at present flying in Luxembourg.
