About This File

FSX/P3D Scenery--Aeropuerto Rafael Hernandez (TJBQ) photoreal. Rafael Hernandez Airport (IATA: BQN, ICAO: TJBQ, FAA LID: BQN) is a joint civil-military airport located in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. It is named after the Puerto Rican composer Rafael Hernandez Marin and is the second international airport in Puerto Rico in the region of Porta del Sol, Puerto Rico's west coast. It is also home to Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen. Most of the current facilities have been preserved from the Ramey AFB era. The Northeast ramp is currently under development. This scenery was made using high resolution LANDSAT imagery obtained from GIS public domain. All building textures were made using either photographs, 3D models, or were completely custom made using photographs from the web as reference. Some of the scenery features include fully detailed main terminal and Fedex Cargo Apron, modernized control tower (not yet open for ATC use), Martinair, Air France/KLM Cargo hangars, Old DynCorp building, COPECA Jet Center, WASCO, and the 141st Radar Site of the Puerto Rico Air National Guard. New 2015 features include HD taxi/apron textures, nice 3D taxiway signs with reflections, added Lufthansa Technik facilities, new CBP hangar, new Tech School, new surrounding buildings and "the ruins". Also added some static aircraft as currently deployed to BQN. By David Rosado - PhotoRico Scenery Project.

I was stationed at Ramey in the late 60s with the Hurricane hunters and the Sac squadron.

The scenery looks great from above but the moment I land or start off there. I get a crash and it resets????Any Ideas???

as a Retired Aviation Coastie, Thank You for the rendition of the place I spent many a day and night flying out of. With the Precast B-36 / B-52 hangers in Your Scenery, I am having flashbacks. I'm looking for golf carts on the approach in from the west as I pass the cliffs. q

thanks that did it.

Nice to see you even left my old 53rd weather barracks west of the tower. As well as some of the SAC buildings on the east side of the runway.

jclaus, the landclass is actually a sattelite picture obtained from GIS servers. You can place it using tools such as ModelConvertX or SbuilderX. Takes a while to learn but very worth it.

Hi Eskimo, thank you for the kind comments. All but one of the original B-36/B-52 hangars have survived. Being so close to the ocean (and a very active ocean) you can imagine how corrosion took a toll on most of them.

Its good to see that BQN is taking a new life with the addition of the Lufthansa MRO center, and an Aeronautical Technology Institute.....which should keep it busy in the future decades.

rwilson881, you bet! If I was able to find a good reference, I put it in there.

Drive down the golf course road until the end, tell me what you see. If you were stationed here, it may bring a tear to your eye. :-)

Thanks for the scenery. It's good to have some up to date Puerto Rico scenery. As far as the crash detection, you mentioned to turn it off, is there or will there be patch for those who like to fly with their crash detection on?

hi, not at the moment. Its the way that buildings were grouped that causes it. To fix I would have to model every building individually, instead of in groups.....which just takes too much time.
