About This File
X-Plane 10 Sopwith 1A Strutter. The Sopwith 1A Strutter was a British one or two-seat biplane multi-role aircraft of the First World War. It is significant as the first British-designed two seater tractor fighter, and the first British aircraft to enter service with a synchronised machine gun. It was given the name "1A Strutter" because of the "one-and-a-half" (long and short) pairs of cabane struts supporting the top wing. The one presented here is Sopwith NA_9407 of the RNAS (Royal Navy Air Service), 3rd Wing based at Luxeuil on September 26, 1917 and flown by Raymond Collishaw. By Philippe Gastebois.
