About This File

FS98 Early USAF Lockheed U-2A from the AFFTC (Air Force Flight Test Center) at Edwards AFB, in unique day-glow orange and silver livery. In 1955, Lockheed fitted a large set of glider wings to the F-104 Starfighter, producing the U-2A, a single-engined, very high-altitude reconnaissance and scientific research aircraft which is still being updated and operative in the present day. 48 early-version units were built, powered by one 13750 flb Pratt&Whitney J57 P37A turbojet. The aircraft had a maximum speed of 459 kt and a ceiling of 85000 ft. Modified Lear45 panel with default instruments included. Textures by Udo Entenmann. By Stephan Scholz.
