About This File

X-Plane Messerschmitt BF.108 Taifun. Four liveries to remember another great aircraft in the aviation history: the Messerschmitt Bf108 Taifun, developed in the B version. Two of them were used by the Luftwaffe on the Oriental front (IV./JG54) and in North Africa (1941-42).The other two wear the insignia of a couple of Bf.108 which participated in 1937 at the International Circuit of the Oases Race (Egypt), where Elly Beinhorn, the female pilot who choose the nickname Taifun for her plane (D-IGNY), conquered the second place. The Bf.108 prototype took off for the first time on June 13, 1934 and in 1936 the plane was adopted by the Luftwaffe as a liason aircraft. The Taifun remains in the history of aviation as the true precursor of the more famous fighter Bf.109, for which experimented many technical and structural solutions. Original by Etienne Hallauer. Sounds by Chris Wraight. Animated pilot by Bertrand Augras. By Paolo Matricardi.
