About This File

FS2004 Scenery--Umiujaq in northern Quebec, Canada. Umiujaq is on the coast of Hudson Bay, around 180 miles northeast of the corner of James Bay and Hudson Bay. The village was also (like Peawanuck) established in 1986, by Inuit who decided to move north from the area afffected by the Quebec hydro power generation developments. There is 3,500 feet of gravel runway, and while there is offically no fuel available a 50 gallon drum can be purchased in return for your life savings. You get charged the same whether you use 50 gallons or 5, and that high price is the reason for the fence. There is a small terminal building on this airfield as well as a hangar. By Roger Wensley and Jim Turner.
