About This File
FS5/FSFS Harbin Y12 II utility transport. One of China's few indigenous civilian aircraft, the Y-12 was designed to replace the Antonov An-2 biplane in Chinese service. The Y-11 was built and flown in 1975 using radial engines and capability for rough field operatons, serving as commuter airliners as well as agricultural spraying. The Y-12 is a turboprop development of the Y-11 using Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A engines. This version flew for the first time in 1984 with current production on the Y-12 II version.
