Microsoft Flight Simulator Developer Interview
(Jorg Neumann & Sebastian Wloch)
Conducted by Dominic Smith
A few days ago, I had the wonderful opportunity to speak to two members of the Microsoft Flight Simulator team, Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Sebastian Wloch, CEO, Co-Founder, Asobo Studio.
During our 40 minute interview, Jorg and Sebastian provided an incredible insight as to what we (the community) can expect to see in Microsoft's latest version of Flight Simulator.
Some of the areas touched upon were:
- Lessons learned from previous versions, for example Microsoft Flight...
- The freedom to fly to any part of the world...
- Multiplayer usage...
- Flight model improvements...
- The new graphics engine...
- The weather engine (this looks incredible)...
- Regional ATC improvements...
- Hardware requirements (always an important one)...
- 3rd party content (payware and freeware), plus the tools required to make such content...
- Streaming content and offline use...
- Simulator updates...
At the end of the interview, and after seeing the incredibly realistic screen shots, I came away with a sense of excitement that I had not felt for quite some time. The passion and enthusiasm on offer from both Jorg and Sebastian was plain to see, and I for one can't wait until release day!
Many thanks to Jim Reilly for arranging this interview, and also to Cristian Delgado for his invaluable help.
