How To...Enlarge The On-Screen GPS
By Robert Heffner (29 December 2004)
If you have trouble reading the GPS, you can enlarge it by opening the aircraft's panel.cfg file and edit the text in Notepad. Make the following changes and save. (Note: the red letters indicate the changes.)
//////////////////////////////////////////////////
[Window Titles]
Window00=Main Panel
Window01=Switch Box
Window02=GPS
Window03=Radio Stack
Window04=Fuel Panel
Window05=Elev Trim
Window06=Mini Panel
Window07=RealView Control Panel
// change size from 150mm x 250mm:
[Window02]
size_mm=150,250
position=6
BACKGROUND_COLOR=16,16,16
VISIBLE=0
ident=GPS_PANEL
gauge00=gps!gps,0,0,150,250
// to 350mm x 450mm:
[Window02]
size_mm=350,450
position=6
BACKGROUND_COLOR=16,16,16
VISIBLE=0
ident=GPS_PANEL
gauge00=gps!gps,0,0,350,450
/////////////////////////////////////////////
You can enlarge any panel to whatever size you wish, however it's a good idea to add equal amounts to each side so as not to distort the window. Always make a back-up of the original panel.cfg file to be safe.
