Hey flight simmers, As you can probably tell from the title, I'm looking to increase the frame rate in FSX:SE. I'll SOMETIMES get 20-25 FPS (only in the air) but again, only in the air. And even in the air, it'll sometimes drop from 5-15 FPS, which in my opinion, is stuttery. Then on the ground...I'll get 13-14 FPS MAX, sometimes dropping to 9,5, even 4. I've tweaked my fsx.cfg with all the popular tweaks, I'm running FSX on a Win10 (but I run it in WinXP SP3 compatibility mode) All my settings are on Med Low except for scenery (High) and I don't even have that many add-ons. I don't have ORBX, REX, or PMDG stuff, just all the default FSX:SE aircraft and a FEW freeware. So what do I do? TheAviationEnthusiast

Just excited to report a surprising improvement in overall performance with the new release. Tried a bunch of stored FLTs and compared metrics using GPU-Z. My 10700k + 2080 Super rig had been seeing a bunch of GPU power throttling at LOD settings.... and they are now totally gone. Will test 200/200/200 tomorrow, but 140/140/140 looks very smooth now... GPU temp down to 65C and TDP average power down 30%. CPU memory use is up though... glad I got 32BG set. I even got a smooth takeoff and return to landing at Orbx KBUR in the stock A320 while keeping at 30FPS... this is more like it. Asobo must have done some tuning but did not feature it in the update description. Real progress for once.

Hi, back again from the cycle of "play FSX -> get tired of low frames -> get tired of tweaking FSX for FPS -> give up on FSX (for a while)". I'm sure some can relate ;) Anyways... I can get OK framerates (20-30, usually not consistent) with my system specs, but only without rain and with everything looking just a bit too old-gamey. I'd like to be able to increase settings a little, fly in weather other than perfect, use some (freeware) detailed aircraft, maybe some really light shaders... you get the idea. I know that FSX, being a simulator, is way more CPU-bound, but I've heard of people with GPUs, and CPUs worse than mine, get higher frames than me. SO, would a sub-$50 GPU be an improvement from no GPU at all? Also, is rain based on CPU or GPU? Thanks! Specs and settings below: -------- Windows 10 Pro Intel i5-2400 @ 3.10GHz 8GB RAM 1920x1200 Monitor -------- GRAPHICS 1024x768x32 Bilinear Global Texture: Very High Preview, Lens FLare, Light bloom, and Avd. Anim. are all off AIRCRAFT "Ultra High" preset SCENERY "Terrain and water" Medium 42 38m 1m Mid 2x Checked "Scenery Objects" Normal Normal Unchecked Medium WEATHER "Medium Low" preset Traffic "Very Low" preset Here's an idea of what that looks like: 20 FPS in the rain, even lower in the cockpit.

Hello Guys! I've built my first own Computer a few weeks ago (CPU: Ryzen 5 2600 3,6 GHz; GPU: RX580 8GB; RAM: 16GB DDR4). Unfortunately I cannot play FSX with a good Framerate. I have around 15 FPS ingame with this Settings: What can I do to get better FPS? Thanks!!!

I'm sorry for all the questions lately. I'm trying to tune my sim by finding a good balance between graphics and performance and it seems like one question leads to another and another. :) When I run P3Dv4 on a single 1920x1080 on ultra high settings I get around 140/150 fps. When I open the aircraft's GPS in its own window fps drops to low 30s! Same thing if I open an ATC window. Does that seem right? Do I maybe have something set wrong?

Hi, a few months ago FSX started stuttering. It happened randomly overnight. One day it was fine, next day it wasn't. No updates or anything that could alter my computer of FSX were done around this time. The stuttering looks like the game is jumping around and merging/ghosting between frames weirdly, such that it bears resemblance to a very low frame rate (but a bit different) however my frame rate is at and always has been at between 30-60 fps on nearly max settings. Can anyone offer help? I have already tried the following to no result: Reinstalling FSX Updating drivers Lowering settings (resulted in higher frame rate, but fps was originally good anyway, and had no effect on the issue, which still remained even up into the 100s of frames per second) Changing NVidia settings Full screening the sim Turning VSync on Limiting the FPS to various values, both internally and externally of the sim. Video attatched to show issue. It shows exactly how it appears in game and the effect is not due to compression of the video. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1znPLIguSuKY5orvsvzMqfNhqrwPF7342 Thanks a lot, fsx is unplayable now!
