monkeysuncle Posted September 14, 2016 Share Posted September 14, 2016 Hi, all, I am amp-ing up my interest in flight sim and graduating from a simple pc-yoke-peddle setup to a more robust pc-cockpit simulator. After several months, my cockpit build is pretty much ready to go, so now I am tackling the PC build. This is what I'm thinking, based around my budget. It is focused to a good CPU rather than the GPU, since I am an FSX user. I think it's solid, but would love a gut-check. Intel Core i5-6600k 3.5GHz Cryorig H7 49 CFM cooler Gigabyte GA-Z170-HD3 Motherboard G.Skill Ripjaws V Series DDR4 16GB MSI GeForce GTX950 2GB Crucial MX300 535GB SSD DIYPC S280-W case EVGA 100-B1-0500-KR 500W power supply I'll have two 24 inch monitors side by side up front, plus two small monitors on the cockpit panel for instruments and a GPS. My two big questions, aside from hopefully getting a thumbs-up for my build, are: Do I stick with my FSX Gold Edition w Acceleration Pack or do I swtich to FSX:SE? Do I go with Windows 7 64 bit, which has been good for me, or do I switch to Windows 10 64-bit? Any expert feedback is most appreciated indeed! thanks! That would mean that I'd have 5 monitors, but my graphics card can only support 4... Never looked into it, but I think it's also possible to: -Run 3 screens off the main PC, -run a second less powerfull PC with 2 monitors, -Connect the PC's (ethernet cable) -and use a software setup to "network the second pc" and make the FSX gauges show up on the second monitors. It may not be possible to drag gauges over. I think it's more a matter of running an app on the second pc, and connecing that to FSX. Apps like Plan-G, Acivesky, Or a GPS providing program. (Some people use an apple or IOS computer for his, as some gauges are available as Apps and not as PC software.) Maybe have a look in the "Cockpit Builders" forum on Flightsim.com.
