pdmike
Hi! It's been a while, but I'm back with one of my many, basic questions. This one has to do with the plane (in this case the Learjet Anniversary) "creeping" when I want it to stand still on the taxiway. AP is off. The throttle on the joystick is off. As far as I can tell, there is no power whatsoever that should cause the plane to move forward. I set the parking brake. It goes off after several seconds, and the plane slowly begins to creep forward. If I let it, the plane will gradually increase to speeds in excess of 20 kts or more. I double click on the period key to set the parking brake. Doesn't make any difference. Any thoughts?
PhantomTweak
Sounds like an engine is running. Most jets and turboprops will creep. By the way, the parking brake is SHFT+. (period), not double-click. All that does is apply the brakes. Twice :D Pat☺ [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again! Sgt, USMC, 10 years proud service, Inactive reserve now :D
StringBean
...the parking brake is SHFT+. (period), not double-click. The default setting is Ctrl+Period. peace, the Bean WWOD---What Would Opa Do? PhantomTweak
As always, Bean is 100% correct. My sincerest apology. I knew the right combination, I use it all the time. I don't have any idea why I said SHFT when I meant CTRL. Again, I apologize. il88pp
I can get forgetful at times. Sometimes I want to apply the parking brake, and I already have. Thing is, + is the shortcut for "Parking Brake (On/Off)" It does not only apply the parking brake, but also releases it. So I end up releasing it when I wanted to apply it. I found a way around that. Pretty simple. (period) applies the brake, and also releases the parking brake. So when I want to apply the parking brake, I press and then I press + First release the parking brake with the , then apply it with + Never fails.
