Amelia "Rose" Earhart's repaint

Recommended Posts

This is the repaint of Amelia "Rose" Earhart's PC-12 she flew around the world in 2014 for the Carenado PC-12. This took a lot of work while trying to get around a few texture issues in Carenado's modelling process. For the most part this is a good kit to paint but you have to take your time and you'll get nice results.

This repaint has all kinds of updates like new animation props and paint, new gear and wheel well paint and of course the paint and decals themselves which were used on the real aircraft.

There are a couple of spots that decals and paint didn't work out due to the texture mapping and problems from certain areas not mapped like the fins on the lower fuselage but for the most part I just had to study the model and worked it out for the best.

Also would like to thank Stu (Navy Doc) who helped by going out researching and gathering the decals for this model for the paint.

I'll have my repaint link below back online soon too.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the comments everyone, I'm glad you like it. I have a couple of small tweaks to go yet, maybe some heat discoloration on the exhaust stacks and a few other little things but for the most part she's about complete.

Thanks again everyone.

PS... (KCD), Is that the 402 model in your signature? I did a repaint for that one too that you might like. I'll dig it up for ya and send u a link. It's a repaint of a 414 I did that has a bit of significance in my world.

Here's a link for the 414. In this video Christophe Jouany landed the 414 at St.Barths (TFFJ) near St. Maarten

Thank You Peer01!. Yeah I just about repainted every part on this one... even the emergency door outline squares on the right side were redone, new prop colors and tip patterns, prop animations, exhaust heat stains, landing gear, wheels, wells, doors.... had to get as close to the actual as possible but one area that could not be done were the two fins on the lower rear fuse. If you put the graphics on one side like the Jappesen logo, it shows up on the other fin backwards automatically (due to modelling process) and there were a couple of other areas too but a little tweaking and it all worked out for the best. I had to put that Japp decal on the fuse just above the fins. No biggie though.

Thanks again Peer

NOTE:

Carenado, in the future please create your paint pallets with all major parts facing the same way especially like fuselage sections and wings that are broken into several parts AND please have the same parts like a fuselage section on ONE pallet not on 2 or 3 different pallets and at different angles to each other. Also please mapp each part separately so that each side of the part can be painted (like the fins on the lower fuse of your PC-12) you can only paint one side of those on one fin.

All of these little things just make it easier for the new guys coming up painting and takes less time for the old guys like me lol I mean every part and each side of a part should be available to paint if you offer blank textures for repainting.
