MS Flight Simulator 2004 won't run on Windows 10

Hi Everyone,

I have several versions of MS Flight Simulator. On my laptop and my desktop, both with Windows 10 and updated drivers Flight Simulator 2004 won't run. MS Flight Simulator 2002 Professional Edition runs on both very well. Does anyone have any experience with this? Any work arounds?

Firstly, if the screen is black click ALT+ENTER. If that doesn't do it, locate your fs9.cfg & save it elsewhere with a slightly different name. Then try. After that we will need more info.

We know why it doesn't work: because Win 10 has disabled some DRM programs. The solution is posted in multiple threads in this very forum.

Hi Rob

Read this thread - https://www.flightsim.com/vbfs/showthread.php?293089-Sim-won-t-load!/page9&highlight=sim+load.

Although it is long and refers to an issue that manifested itself following an update to Win 7 and 8.1 that removed support for a specific DRM utility used by FS2004, it is VERY relevant to the Win 10 DRM issue. In it you will find details of the available fixes and information on how to implement them. - just ignore any references/removal information that is specific to the KB that caused the Win 7/8 issue as the KB was not installed as part of Win10.

Regards

Brian
