FSX AI Traffic - Best Way to Migrate Traffic to different airport in bulk

Hi,

My AI is broken into a number of different files (one BGL per airline). Most of the schedules are a bit old so I am trying to re-route traffic from the old Doha airport to the new one.

I need a find and replace type for OTBD to OTHH. It seems that going through every one of the 500 airline files, de compiling and recompiling is not the most efficient way to do it.

Is anyone aware of a better method or a tool that can help me make this change quickly?

Thanks

lets say you have trafficplan:

AirlineX_2010.bgl

This traffic file contains many many flightplans. For the different aircraft, and airports.

You can open this .bgl in AIFP.

Then use the "Save File Set" option.

this results in 3 files:

Flightplans_AirlineX_2010.txt ------ Contains the flightplans.

Airports_AirlineX_2010.txt ------ Contains the used Airports.

AircraftAirlineX_2010.txt ----- contains the used aircraft.

You can then open:

Flightplans_AirlineX_2010.txt

in Notepad,

and with "Find and Replace"

Change all instances of OTBD to OTHH

You will also need to open

Airports_AirlineX_2010.txt

And change the airport there too,

But more is required there, you can't just replace the ICAO.

Because along with the ICAO it also needs the coordinates of the airport.

You can find out the coordinates by opening the airport in ADE.

Now you have both files changed, you then place all three in one folder.

Then choose: Files--open flightplan file (txt or .zip)

Then select the changed Flightplans_AirlineX_2010.txt

from the folder with the three files in it.

Click in the white area in AIFP once.

You will see the flightplans loaded as usual.

Click "select compile parameters" and choose the folder with the textfiles as output folder.

Click "Compile and Save"

The resulting .bgl file will be in the same folder as the three .txt textfiles.

It will be named AirlineX_2010.bgl

-------

That should do it, but be aware the distance between the airports you swap can't be too far apart.

If they are far apart, the plane won't have enough time in the flightplans to make it the full distance. It will take-off, then fly a while, but disappear mid air, and pop up at the next airport at a gate, ready for the next departure.

That means you wouldn't see them land at the destination, only take off again.

------

------

I just noticed when I loaded a .bgl in AIFP, in the "Airports" menu is an option for replacing Airports. I didn't understand how to use it but only looked at it briefly.

May be worth having a look at.

(I prefer messing with textfiles myself.)

Also, TTools breaks up an .bgl file into the three textfiles too. But that program only does FS9 traffic .bgl files and older I think. No fsx type trafficplans.

I don't have a better way, but AIFP3 has some stuff which can lighten/shorten the workload.

1) Bulk Traffic -> "Check if airport used in traffic files"

Lists all traffic bgls that contain OTBD, I have something like 30-40 files.

Print out the list or save as textfile.

2) For each file in that list, replace OTBD with OTHH

Flight Plans -> Find/Replace -> then Save and Compile

Don't think this will take you days.
