Milo's flight simulator experience !

G'day guys , its been a while !

thought I'd share a really great 30 minutes of my life recently !

last year for Christmas my sister gave me a rather unusual gift certificate!

30 minutes in a 737 flight simulator !

http://www.737jet.com.au/

I have mostly flown the stock 737 in fsx but knew most things in the plane but it was

totally different to see them in real life and not through a 27 inch screan, to be able

to touch the buttons , read the read outs etc..

I was also nervous as hell!!

they were at Dubai International airport, which I've never flown ..

their graphics were amazing...

any way after a brief chat with the co pilot ! (Colin) he taxied us to the runway.

we talked about my level of flying and what I've done at home and I told him what I was familier with

and my usual flying path, Adelaide to Sydney etc and stock 737 , I knew pretty much most of what was in that cockpit

even just from flying the stock 737, so he got us lined up, he set the flaps ,and at the same way I did too which I was surprised !

before we took off I made my captains announcement to my passengers and hoped they had their life insurance up to date !

we eventually took off and rotated about 135 knots..

I was surprised at how responsive the yoke was, not used to that as I use a joystick and we soon got to 5000 feet .

no auto pilot as we were just doing a figure 8 around Dubai and the view was stunning, there was even some dark clouds forming

and some lightning happening, not enough for us to worry about though.

I was more amazed at the cockpit controls, actually being able to press the buttons and such which I'd only seen thru my pc screen!

the sounds were amazing and I felt like a real pilot, I was also surprised at how well I handled the plane even though I wasn't doing the whole

lot like I normally do at home which is great when you have a real life co pilot next to you.

Colin said I was doing very well for a first timer, kept the plane level even in turns

we eventually had come back to the airport , it took me a little while to work out where I was as I wan't familiar with Dubai.

But we followed straight in with the dotted line on the main panel.

think I spent a bit too much looking out the front window as I landed, pic below from the dvd

and I actually landed dead on straight on the run way , which I was quite surprised,

I wasn't expecting to actually feel the thump as the wheels touched down but we did !

back first then nose down , flaps full and auto brake on and touch down.

Colin saw I thought I was worried but he said for a first timer it was one of the smoothest landings he'd seen in a long time !

He said I would have been able to fly the real thing like that no problems.

hmmm ok maybe if like in a movie and they said is there any one that can fly? (like in flying high !!)

then we eventually taxied back to the gates. it was all over in a flash..

defiantly worth the trip!

our co pilot Colin, next time I go up I'd like to wear one of those shirts, not sure if you can buy one for flight simming ??

This is me at the control !

why is it when you look forward to things they take so long to happen ,then when they do its all over so quick !

and here is a video of my experience ! you don't hear us talking but you hear the noise of the simulator..

thanks for looking at this post ..
