Round the world flight

I fancy doing a round the world flight in the default 737-800 or the default 747-400

Does anyone have or know of a route I could use. :pilot:

I started doing this myself from the UK and got as far as China before I put it on ice for the time being due to extreme weather.

The route I took was something like;

Gatwick - Berlin - Athens - Qatar - Bombay - Hong Kong - Beijing // paused there.

I've done a few RTW trips, it takes while but is rather good fun and a great way to get used to a new aircraft. I used the PSS A340 in FS9 years ago.

This is the trip that has inspired me the most.

One day I intend to recreate the above trip in either the iFly 737 or an A320, possibly the Aerosoft A320.

There are actually quite a few websites dedicated to flying round the world in flight sim. Unfortunately most of them are based on flying a GA aircraft so not really suitable for the big tin.

I've had the above bookmarked for a while now, and whilst some are very old sites, they're gteat reading for some of the flight reports. You may even be able to gleam some inspiration for a route from them to help you plan a suitable trip.

There was also the now defunct aroundtheworldclub.co.uk which hosted the route and logged your flights on their site, but this site died shortly after it started. :-(

Aditionally, there are loads of RTW trip reports posted here, search back through the forums and you'll find dozens of seperate logs detailing RTW trips.

A few years ago I created my own personal website along with xacars based flight tracking. I even started developing my own acars client at one point, customised especially for my own RTW trip. If i ever get the time, I'd love to sort a route, finish the website and client and make it available for everyone to use. Unfortunately, I simply don't have the time at the moment to finish writing it. One day...

I ran around the globe last winter in the artificial BBJ3 I run. "737-900"

I pretty much picked the airports as I flew it. Decided to dip down south on the latter

legs. Was blizzard winter over EU and Russia, but summer on the latter part of the trip

until I got back to Houston.
