Need help with video card decision

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have an I7-930 cpu OC'd to 3.8Ghz riding on a Gigabyte X58a-UDR3 motherboard, 6GB of triple channel Corsair RAM running 8-8-8-24 at 1600MHz, NVIDIA GTX 275 with 896MB RAM, and two 240GB SSD drives. I build this system about 5 years ago, and just got back into flight simming with FSX. I just added the SSD's in lieu of the mechanical drives that I had.

I feel a video card upgrade may be in order now that 5 years have passed. Looking to spend under $200, but not sure if I should go with something like a 750TI, or a 950\960.

Thinking I may need to bump some RAM as well in the near future. The system runs acceptable as is, but I would like to be able to get a little more AA and do have some frame drops\redraws that may be helped by a faster video card.

I don't really want to put too much video card in for my current system, but looking for some thoughts from those that have made a similar move.....will I see enough of a performance increase over my current card?

Running ORBX products, REX Essentials Plus, and mostly Carenado aircraft.

Thoughts?
