Hi Andy,

Thanks for expressing your concerns in relation to my health. Fortunately I am now mending well and actually working with Edward in regards to the Ford Tri-Motor Projects.

Starting off on light duties - we are about to release 20 liveries for the Default Microsoft Piper Cub J-3 aircraft.

Keep your eye open for a thread in the FlightSim.com forum shortly.

Hi Andy,

Ford India Scenery Project is still on hold for a plethora of reasons - the India Project is just one of the many projects that Edward and I have in the pot for development as part of the overall Ford Project. As a two man team we will work our way through these projects at a time and schedule that is suitable and compatible to our work capabilities.

Hi Andy,

Not often do I receive deadlines or pushes for completion on FREEWARE projects.

Unfortunately the Ford Project Team does not work to your schedules nor focus on your planned projects.

The Ford Project - in it's entirety is a FREEWARE development project - thousands of livery downloads and hundreds of scenery packs available and much more for FREE to the simming community. Dedicated to filling a historical niche in the FS2004 environment.

This is done at considerable financial costs and time commitments by the two man team over several years of very hard work.

The Ford Tri-Motor Project Team's priorities and tasking of what to do next has a much broader perspective than to meet your schedules.

Your welcome to create your own scenery for your Charles Kingsford Smith Project - for the entire route.

NOTE:

The airfields, scenery, models, liveries etc created by the Ford Project Team are for exclusive publication and use via the Ford Tri-Motor Project web site and cannot be used in other projects or published for distribution without consent.

Andy, if your hoping to emulate Bill Lyons then your in for a very long and steep learning curve - Bill was at it for many years - he achieved a great deal of success and praise for his work but that took years of learning and hard slog crash and dash development curve.

Excellence comes from perseverance, practice and experience over a considerable number of years. I have been developing liveries and scenery since 1998 and still class myself as a learner in flight sim development. Always something new to learn for every project I work on.

In the flight sim community there are hundreds of people, including myself that willingly share their knowledge to assist others - however, there are civil and ethics levels that are required to seek out assistance and/or volunteers.

Most developers that I deal with are always willing to help those that are putting in the hard slog to learn something and "request" assistance in a civil manner.

If your interactions in regards to the Ford India Project are the liaison standard for you then undoubtedly you will find it hard to get assistance from others.

i could take charge of the ford india scenery while you recover

For those that are not aware of the Ford India Project - check out http://www.ford-tri-motor.net/ford-india-project.htm

This project will ultimately run from England through to Australia with period specific (1930's) Airfields, Aircraft and 3D models. All airfields within India through to Singapore are done and planning has been done from India to Egypt and Singapore to Brisbane and maybe reach down to Sydney.

Hundreds of unique 3D models have been created and quiet a few more are yet to be done for this scenery. At least 25 to 30 1930's era airfields are yet to be constructed.

I have around 5GB of historical data and reference material for the project and 3GB of support models, artwork and liveries, many others yet to be created for specific regions.

Around 3 years invested of unique experience and involvement in the project with a comprehensive understanding of the overall project and how that project integrates into other Ford scenery projects.

Long term plan for the Ford India Project is to also branch from India into China and there is countless more 3D models with artwork and liveries to be done for them as well.

It would be highly unlikely that even a professional Repainter/3D Model Builder/Scenery creator could step into this project and manage it let alone continue development in the short term.

Andy, in a nutshell, Thanks for the offer however, due to the massive volume of work already done and the depth of details required to be already known, there is simply no way Edward or I would hand over any part of this project for you to "manage" or develop items for.

Hi Andy,

Commendable that you have been flying in Flight Simulators for 9 years

I am 64 and have been developing aircraft products for Flight Simulators for 17 years, Scenery for 15 years and 3D modelling for 5 years. 35 years of software development and IT Project management - 20 of those as an IT Executive for many Government and International companies throughout the world. Working on the Ford Project for about 5 years.

With all of that experience I still deem myself as moderate to maybe good as a Flight Sim Developer.

Even then the Ford Project demands even higher skill levels for various projects applications and my experience in development and the tools I use are essential to allow me to push those boundaries and met the objectives. I still believe that I learn something new just about every day because of these challenges.

That is why both Edward and I do this project as FREEWARE - we enjoy using our vast backgrounds and experiences in simulation products to keep learning and expanding our skill base in our Retirement Years.

I commend you for your persistence but unfortunately I do not think you would enjoy being responsible for the Ford India Project. If you had 7 years of Flight Sim development experience with aircraft, liveries, scenery, 3D model making, Web Development, and Project Management that could be a different scenario.

I recommend that you select a stream of development for Flight Sim, Aircraft, Scenery, 3D modelling or aircraft repainting - focus on that aspect until you master it to a level that your publishing in the community. The community is excellent on feedback and support. However, it requires a thick skin as critique is always aggressive - good or bad. :-)

Once you have mastered one stream then get stuck into another if you want.

None of it is easy - any stream required considerable time and effort in learning curve and tons of practice. Not something that you learn over a weekend. I have been doing computer graphics for over 20 years and am still very much a learner - yes I can do graphics stuff rapidly but I still use only about 25% of the graphics tools available to me - still much more yet to master.

In a nutshell - thanks - glad you have been a simmer for 7 years - and hope you continue to do so - but if you want to get into development of Flight Sim product you have to put in the time to develop the experience in FS Product Development - not just fly the results.

I sort of get the feeling that Captain Andy Poppens is on a wind up mission here.

Gary

I look forward to the time when you and Edward have completed the Ford India project which is a mammoth undertaking. Then I can fly the old Imperial route in period scenery.

Unlike Andy, I can wait. Age teaches patience.

Hi Mate, Yep my tolerance level is now getting a titch low on young Captain Andy.

Giving him the grace of being a young fellow who seems to want to get into development and has no idea what is involved and where to start - well I have spelt it all out - up to him to head down and bum up or caste his dreams of developing aside.

Glad you understand that we will finish off the India Project but sometimes circumstances get in the way every now and again.

Regards mate.
