dnpaul
I have never built a PC before, so I'm flying blind, lol. Currently using a Dell Inspiron with Pentium Dual Core E6700 @3.2 Ghz and AMD Radeon HD6450 with 8GB Ram. It is actually not bad at all, but it does require some compromises on sliders and display options. I was wondering if, for around $1000, I can get a better rig. I'd like to try building, but I have never done one. I have read about the Intel I5 and I7 processors being favorites of FSX builders, and that Nvidia cards are popular. Just browsing around on Newegg is making my head spin. So many options with cases, boards, cooling systems, etc. So I'm looking for specific suggestions on what to get. I really don't want to mess with Windows 10. Windows 7 64 seems to be so good with FSX, I can't imagine why I would want to try anything else--what could be the benefit? This machine will be strictly FSX. Thanks!
il88pp
Does the 1000 include getting a monitor, win7, and controllers? If so, specify monitor and controllers please? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
dnpaul
Does the 1000 include getting a monitor, win7, and controllers? If so, specify monitor and controllers please? Ha, I should have qualified that! No monitor, controllers. Probably need WIN 7 64. So I just need the box and suitable OS. It seems like Win7 costs more than 8.1? I have been browsing ready-made, customizable machines and found this: ViperX1 i5 Gaming PC Model: GM2114A Qty : 1 SYSTEM PRICE: $969.65 The Items of the System are shown below Processor Intel Core i5-4690K 3.50GHz Quad-Core Motherboard Gigabyte GA-H81M-H 1150 CV x16 2D3 M16 GL MATX Memory 8GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 Memory 2 8GB DDR3-1600 PC3-12800 Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950 2GB GDDR5 Hard Drive Toshiba 2TB 3.5 SATA3 7200RPM 64MB Cache Optical Drive DVD±RW DL 24x SATA Black Optical Drive Chassis Strike-X One MATX Tower No PSU Blue Chassis Power Supply Ultra 600W PSU Network Card 2 10/100/1000 Gigabit Network Onboard Keyboard Logitech USB Keyboard and Mouse Combo O/S Microsoft Windows 8.1 32/64bit COA Case Light Antec USB Powered Blue 6 LED Light Warranty 1 Year Warranty On Labor & Parts Free shipping and comes with Win 8.1 Maybe that's the better way to go. cavalierjan19
https://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ I think this is a nice build for more or less 1000$. I'm not sure abou the keyboard/mouse being good, but their reviews are quiet positive. Hope it helps, Jan My Blog:http://thebadpilotsblog.blogspot.com/ My PC: i7-3970X up to 4.0GHz, Gigabyte GTX970 OC, Asus X79 Rampage IV Extreme, Kingston HyperX Beast XMP 16GB, Samsung 850 PRO 256GB SSD, Western Digital Black 2TB, Noctua NH-D15, Thermaltake SE Smart 630W, Cooler Master CM690 III, Windows 10. Q2DM1
Here's what I have: MOBO: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B9BDB14 CPU: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009O7YORK RAM: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0042A7CAA PSU: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0092ML0OC All of that, plus a DVD RW drive was: $383.11 (I didn't check current prices) The video card: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JM5XX9O I got it for $89 with shipping, but apparently it costs much more than that now: $180 I have all of my sliders turned up and FSX runs fine, except it CTD's after I click enough menus. I also get occasional frame stutter, but rarely enough I can live with it. *EDIT* Sorry, I didn't realize this was a month-old topic until just now <?php while(1){ echo "Hey, wait! This is a trap! atr_42_500
This is not an answer to your question but my advice is to choose AMD over Nvidia for flightsim. I always had problems with Nvidia for FS (9 and X), never had issues with AMD. Somebody put something in my jet fuel Mircea http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/8481/mynn8.jpg
