Old backed up filles.

I recently had a few problems with some added airfields, this got me thinking, over the years of using FS I often backed up aircraft, afcads, scenery and utilities etc.

Any way I dug out the box with all the disks and found one with lots of afcads and airfield scenery files.

I just installed one for Brize Norton that had some great scenery plus some ai aircraft, it all works, I'm glad I found it again.

I have a good few more so I'm going to take my time and have a look at them, how many more of you back up and save, it pays off in the end, I've seen threads and posts where someone is struggling trying to find something and I have got that on disk, I've helped a few out in the past with the odd file.

I very seldom delete old stuff, even though I may never use it again. With storage media being so affordable today, I might start a museum of old FS files. I probably still have the old z-planes from way back. No way I would ever use them now but as much of a "cool" add-on they were back then, it's hard to say goodbye to them. It's like owning a piece of FS history.

I have a 5 foot stack of CDs of 'backup' files. Not zipped, but entire airplanes, going back to FS98. Zip files (downloads) are on Hard Drive and some day (when I have a 'day off') I plan to put them ALL (CDs, Zips, etc) on USB Sticks. It might take me a week or two to do it-no matter. No need to buy external HDrives anymore. Just bought two 8 Gb sticks. Will buy two more next week. THAT is the way to go if you are going to save everything (like me, or you). You can then put the entire FltSim 'Museum' in your pocket. Ha.
