aero744
My NVidia GTX285 is kaput. I know, it's rather old but I can't afford a new rig currently, just need to replace the broken VGA for now. So, the question is which higher spec NVidia videocard will be compatible with my motherboard which is ASUS Rampage II Gene? The ones I can see are PCIe 3.0 while GTX285 was PCIe 2.0. Is it OK to buy PCIe 3.0 card for this board? Thanks! Sent from my Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk
evm
Yes, PCIe 3.0 is backwards compatible to 2.0, so you can slot a 3.0 card in a 2.0 motherboard. But be aware of the size of modern GPUs, make sure it fits in the case and in the slot - some need 2 slots to fit (but only one is connected) and they are quite long too.
