Southern California- West coast

I'm interested in the West coast. So for FSX and Xplane 10 Global what is the recommended scenery and airport add ons? Mainly interested in Southern California area. Other than LAX (and Palomar) you don't see any screenshots or videos of the smaller airports.

Thinking of getting into flight sims and have been running through various forums, review sites and you tube to catch up on latest stuff. FSX is old but has a lot of stuff, XP10 either looks really good or really bad. But I haven't really been able to find much detailed reviews for scenery for XP10. I'm not even sure if I've what I've seen standard or enhanced scenery for XP10.

Most likely I will end up with both. I'll try them out on my dual core Vista 64 computer, try optimizing them and see if I want to get new computer and controls.

I'm interested in light/medium single and twin prop planes.

...on my dual core Vista 64 computer...

Sounds just like my computer!

Works pretty good too, altho the high-detail, large-scale airports, even freeware ones tend to eat my FPS up, as do clouds in any quantity.

Other than that (Mrs. Lincon, how was the play?), it runs FSX-SE very nicely. Sorry, that little phrase always pops into my poor pea-brain and beats on the inside demanding to be let out.

Personally, being on a VERY limited income, a new comp isn't in the cards for a while yet, so I adjust things until I keep 25 FPS (ish), and just run there.

Had a thought...then there was the smell of something burning, and sparks, and then a big fire, and then the lights went out! I guess I better not do that again!

For FSX/P3D, Orbx is top of the line for scenery, they cover North America's west coast from Alaska down to Northern California and are trying to have Southern Cal shipping in late summer this year.

An alternative is photoscenery and Blue Sky Scenery covers many western USA states including California and it's freeware (you can make a small donation if you like).

Thanks for the info. Downloaded fsx:se this am. Will pick up a cheap joystick and see what I can do with it. In the depths of my garage is a plastic bag with the Sublogic flight SIM for Apple II. I've had almost every version of the MS Sims as well as others. But now I'm willing to put more in, to get more out.
